Modifications like that can be worked out fairly easily. Other overly British content would also be changed for the American sites.

William & Mary is helping write Oxford Open and we're looking to see if there's interest in running it at other sites in the US. If MUT doesn't end up happening, Oxford Open would be a reasonable replacement for it.

Has anyone heard anything about Louisville? They had a very solid team last year, and if they're returning their key players they should get some recognition.

VCU Open Matchmaking (Richmond)
Since a few people posted in the tournament announcement that they were looking for teams, I thought I'd start a matchmaking thread. I'll make a spreadsheet when I'm done with work to organize everything.

I can safely say this was the least fun I've had at a Quizbowl Tournament. The poor grammar and atrocious inconsistency in bonus difficulty left me extremely frustrated from the first round. I can't really say I got anything out of it, and I think it was really an unfortunate tournament.

I seriously don't find anything wrong with giving players an extra credit or so. They already have tons of 'fluff' classes for lack of a better word that offer the same thing and are much less academically valid.

How would you classify scientific philosophy (Thomas Kuhn, Karl Popper etc...). Re: This is a Thread About Movies
Personally, I would say that for a movie to be considered appropriate for fine arts that it should have to be at least 10 years old. I think the films have to show some sort of real and lasting impact on film making, and thus a movie that came out last year, no matter how good, can't really be part ...

From my (limited) experience, I think that after a certain point, tournaments just skid to a halt unless if the matches that are being played are still significant in some way. Of course, it all depends on the schools, since serious or teams trying to improve will probably stay focused. As long as p...
