Re: 2009-10 Preseason Top 50

hey Fred, thanks for putting us at such a good ranking, we'll certainly have to work harder to meet expectations. I was actually thinking Torrey Pines, being the not extremely active team we are (which I'm hoping will change), had missed the radar. I've got two things to note, and I'm not sure how i...

Re: Southern California '09-'10

I would put RB above La Jolla. Seems like RB has some soon-to-be sophomores who are into expanding their knowledge and Lucas can beat decent teams even with all the negs. La Jolla, too, will be good, no doubt. But I think losing Kai leaves a huge hole and they'll have to work to fill that in. Appare...

Re: HSAPQ: Fall Tournaments Sets Available

I would agree that Scythian Suite is pretty obscure, but I'd also say that it is used very frequently as an early clue on Prokofiev tossups. Just something I've noticed, but I haven't paid close enough attention to point out where. (I haven't read EFT or ACF 2008, btw). On the other hand, Scythian S...

Re: SCIENCE! (5/16/09) at UC Irvine

This was a great tournament, and a great intro for everyone, hopefully, into PACE style gameplay. I felt that although we had to drop some rounds from the schedule, the tournament was very well run, and I want to thank Dwight for thinking of and running it. I feel like without Dwight's efforts, hs q...

Re: Southern California NAQT State Championship

Our coach just doesn't want to go up to LA. She said one more trip, and we picked SCIENCE!
Yeah I know it's lame, but oh well.

G'luck everyone

Re: Southern California 08-09

auroni, you know how panasonic works at our school. I'll feel pretty uncomfortable asking, although I definitely prefer NSC. But also, I don't want to be screwed by being away for 5 out of the 9 days before finals :) that might bring us to the question of hsnct v nsc; killmar had us vote three weeks...

Re: Southern California 08-09

4. Torrey Pines These guys were nowhere near this spot until today, when they proved they had legit knowledge to spare. Stephen-Vivek is a potent 1-2 combo, and the other guys contribute enough that you can't discount them. Their strengths are probably suited more to NSC, which, given that they som...
