When i tell them of how much effort and work Trey put into "getting good" the last couple years, most students laugh and say "he had no life." This is an interesting misconception about people who are good at quizbowl that I've heard quite often. I was staffing a local tournament a couple years ago...

Well, since you all are aren't much further away than the Shorter site (and also in our time zone), Western Kentucky is expressing interest in attending with 2-3 teams. Once we have our first practices and see how many people would like to go, I'll send you an e-mail for registration.

if you google "Josip Jelalcic" without any hatcheks, the only results are quizbowl tournaments that I've written. Not that this matters, but Western Kentucky should be somewhat better than last year, but we're still going to lose a lot more games than we win. Luckily this is all hypothetical for now, but I doubt it will remain so for long. Perhaps the solution is forming a Gatton team whose official policy is to compete only in non-KAAC events? If KAAC ruled students could compete for their home schools in Governor's Cup events while still having a team ...

I don't see why they couldn't have a team. Maggie Walker and Thomas Jefferson in Virginia draw students from mulitple jurisdictions, and they certainly have teams.
