Does Dartmouth still have a team?

One of the local high school players in the league I run asked me this yesterday, and all I know was that they had one. I checked their website and unless I didn't dig deep enough, the most recent results I've seen are from 2001.

Thanks in advance.

In the other northeastern Ohio tournament today... Salem won the Columbiana County tournament for the first time in 22 years by going undefeated and closing in convincing fashion, defeating then 8-1 Lisbon in the final round. Format: 25 tossups, 10 points each, no negs, 1 5-point bonus per tossup. T...

Hard to tell, Bob. Canton Central Catholic came to Steubenville last year, as did New Philly, but the Hoover has gone to the Northeast every time. Since the committee has a nasty habit of splitting teams from the same county into different regionals, it means that they could send both teams to diffe...

All issues aside (see thread in the miscellaneous forum), the Stark County tournament was a great experience and has given me lots of ideas for Mahoning County. Eleven teams competed, 10 from Stark and one from Tuscarawas, and the tournament was the prime example of the idea that anything can happen...

That's the major problem. There was no mention of this topic in the tournament rules, nor are there in the state rules. It is up to the question writer, really, to state whether or not the answer should be simplified or not. This writer sometimes does and sometimes does not state that simplification...

Let it be known that I"m not a math teacher, so that's why I'm asking. I know better now.

The protest didn't come until like six minutes after the match, that's why it didn't go through. I'll pass this thread on to the TD and she can send it on to the teams if she chooses.

Thanks for the help.

Noah, I will get you those e-mails after the first of February. I"m going to the Columbiana and Trumbull county tournaments, so I'm hoping to get updated e-mails for all the coaches in those counties, then add them to all the ones I have from Mahoning.

Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright. The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light. And, somewhere men are laughing, and quizbowl parents shout, but there is no joy in Canton -- the Crusaders were sucked out. CCC may still bring their rabblerousers to the tou...

Haven't heard anything in a while...

Found out today that North Canton Hoover will represent the Stark County league at regionals, having gone undefeated in that competition, including a win over 2004 state qualifier Canton Central Catholic.

Anything else, Ohioans?

I will start adding a list of teams who have registered after this week. I have not decided on a maximum limit of teams and will not be able to until YSU tells me how many rooms they can hold for the tournament.

From my experiences running a league and tournament for the first time last year... Good teams know about where they came from, whether the program has a tradition of winning or they built it from the ground after losing for many years. Good teams DON'T call the team that they are supposed to travel...

my thoughts...

I know that I haven't had a chance to see many of the teams in my area...because, for the most part, they don't travel. :( Badger went to Copley in October, and LaBrae went to Aurora. In Mahoning County, we now have 12 in the league after adding Boardman (one of the largest in the county) and Campbe...
