Re: Bergen County Academies Tournament 4/05/08 (Hackensack, NJ)

BOAT is officially, 100% dead, due to our incompetent, corrupt and bureaucratic administration who can spend thousands of dollars on electron microscopes that they don't even use yet can't give us a couple hundred for a tournament that would have probably made money. They are a bunch of idiots who a...

Re: Bergen County Academies Tournament 4/05/08 (Hackensack, NJ)

For all purposes, the tournament is dead. I will probably post an official "death notice" soon.

I really don't what kind of commitment we initially got, it was our advisor and another student who I think handled. Plus the administration is so bureaucratic with so many different "boards" that all it takes is one to not allow the tournament and the whole thing will be called off. Again, I apolog...

PS
You're from colonia, right? Could you tell me a bit about your tournament on April 12th (maybe even post it on this website)

we don't really have kids coming just hang out with

but still with 8-10 kids coming, you need 2-3 parents driving

also, march 1st is an SAT date so most of our juniors (and about 50-60% of the team are juniors) couldn't come

so nothing is certain yet

that's not quite the problem... i would go, probably a bunch of other members would go too but our adminstration needs a lot of time to approve a trip (up to 2 months i think) so it would be a student run trip, which means no bus, which means parents drive, which is a little more complicated maybe, ...

if i can help you out

i think we lost to gonzaga 440-150 or something (mainly due to six straight negs from watson and i....it was painful)

we beat hhw a 450 115 or something like that (mainly due to watson alone having 145 points on tossups...it was painful, but only for the other team  )

in regards to bergen a resembling a one man team 1. watson was just a having a very good day (he personally had 145 pts. in our defeat of hhw a) that combined with his somewhat large number of his negs gives the rest of the team scant opportunites to buzz in 2. at naqt tournaments such an imbalance ...

after some deliberating, we have decided to go with packet IS-75A. I know A level questions can at times be buzzer races, but they worked out well at LIFT and should be fine for our tournament

the only other tournament around here using IS-75A is one at state college
