I'm sorry, I thought everyone had access to the tournament results 1. TP A 2. TP B 3. La Jolla A 4. Scripps A There were a total of 7 teams in attendance. From what I saw, La Jolla A should have gotten the 2nd seed. They managed to beat TP A in the playoffs, but due to TP A having a superior prelim ...

The thing is though, cost is a major issue for teams in SoCal. Due to the lack of density, cost is proportionally higher if we wish to play high caliber teams. Cost of tickets + hotel....sigh. I actually do think playing at college tournaments would be a great idea. Ill ask some people in the colleg...

My team is rather reluctant to do two out of state tournaments. We seem to feel that expenses outweigh the benefits. I do want to go though... I wonder if PACE will let us play with a hybrid team? =D Edison has been rather close with La Jolla every match they've played. They lost to La Jolla at UCI,...

MC, you know theres a tournament at Rancho Bernardo on the 12th? All other San Diego teams as well, this is very close to home compared to the usual tournaments. I do hope that MC and Westview can come. For those in the LA area, a 1 1/2 hour drive isn't bad. Its fun to hang out with your friends in ...

I wanna say thanks to the staff at UCI. Besides the no shows, it was a very smoothly run tournament. Our team could not believe how quickly the tournament was over with. Moderators were good too (though for some reason i could not score at all with one moderator, nothing on him of course) It was ver...

Rancho Bernardo is planning an NAQT tournament sometime in January i believe. House written tournaments would be awesome, but with the amount of participation, not logistically as possible as playing mirrors from other hs tournaments. Dwight, are schools on the east willing to give packets for mirro...

Which buzzer has the most pleasant sound?
The question is stated in the title. Which buzzer do you enjoy playing on because of its tone?

We decide our NAQT teams based on areas individuals are strong in. We try to make it so that we cover as much of the quizbowl canon as possible. Tournament experience weighs in a lot as well. Usually this coincides with performance in practice, but when it doesn't, experience is more valuable than p...

3. The first Sa Mo A/RB B game had a total of 9 powers in 20 questions. The second one had 13. In total the six 1-4 playoff games averaged 9.17 powers per game. I think that's as ridiculous a stat as I've ever seen in SoCal. That said, had RB A and B designated team A and B differently, there may h...

AL = academic league It is basically like NAQT, with tossups and bonuses and such, but the questions usually consist exclusively of give aways, thus it is more of a speed game than a knowledge game. Bonuses are also given all at once, with 20 seconds to work on all of them. No powers...sigh =( A sam...

Oh our AL coach's wife (who used to be our varsity coach) is now coaching AL at westview perhaps i can ask our coach to motivate westview as well. As far as the players are concerned, NAQT and AL run separately. Practices for NAQT are often held at a separate time and most of the time at someone's h...

Wow i didnt realize Mt Carmel posted on this board! hurray for inland division! It would be great if Westview or Mt Carmel started an naqt group. I think NCAL would benefit a lot from that. Oh no dwight, see its like this: So after reseeding the alpha bracket consisted of the following ranking 1. SaMo A 2. Arcadia A 3. RB B 4. RB A 5. TP B 6. TP A 7. Edison A 8. La Jolla A But the play off games only consisted of playing between 1 - 4 and 5 - 8. This meant that even though TP B only lo...

It really is a shame that SoCal quizbowl only has a few enthusiasts. I wonder if any Bay area teams are willing to compete in the lower areas? Any teams close to Las Vegas maybe? Perhaps if we allowed people to join quizbowl from Mexico... =D Troy is a powerhouse at SciOly. Quizbowl at Rancho Bernar...
