Re: Announcement: ACF Fall West (11/8/08) at UC Irvine

I echo everyone else's sentiments. Dwight did pretty much all he can to deal with the problems that were presented. UCI tournaments are always the most well run, and when they're not, they're ran the best way possible within the circumstances. I had a lot of fun playing every team, losing to UCLA A ...

Incorrect, it's easier for people to qualify because we're not playing, it's more convenient for San Diego teams, LA teams deserve to experience the joy of the roundway 4-hour trip we have to take every tournament, and this set is going to be pretty much amazing.

Their page explains that since they did not have enough clocks, the format they played with in the morning was untimed, while after noon (not accounted for in stats) was timed. I don't know how that accounts for the discrepancy though.

2 brackets of 8 for prelims, round robin. Reseed after lunch into two new brackets of 8. 1 plays 3, 5, 7. 2 plays 4, 6, 8 (essentially four brackets of four with top bracket being 1, 3, 5, 7 and bottom bracket being 10, 12, 14, 16). That's entirely possible; it's early in the year with a team whose returners didn't have the depth of the past few years, and since Santa Monica grew dominant they've been able to reload consistently, so I'm guessing there's some kind of program that develops motivated players fairly well (BTW all ...
