Cutter beat Benton in '03 390-320 in a format with 760 possible points. I remember scoring something like 730 in a format with 940. We were on the other side of a 520-90 drubbing by Texas at ACF fall. As for low scores, I remember several 40-30 games in Arkansas state tournament format (760 max poin...

I plan on writing a tournament this year with the location yet to be determined. It'll either be at Cutter or at Harding U, depending on which location is better for most teams.

I would probably put Benton and FS Southside as #1 and 2, not necessarily in that order. Conway will be competitive, but there might be an adjustment period since they lost their entire A team. Central has great depth but lacks consistency. I would expect Watson Chapel to have something of an off ye...

That will not be possible because I will be in Mexico. Although beating Northside isn't one of my life goals, I'll be busy preparing the rest of my team to go in my absence.

Congrats to Northside for winning yet another state title. It was a fitting end of the career of one of the nation's best coaches, Larry Jones. Also, congratulations to all the teams that competed Saturday. Contrary to what Robbie posted, Cutter did not lose because of uneven lightning rounds. True,...

I went to ACE at SEMO for two years and improved vastly. I didn't think it was possible to improve so much in less than a week. The only part I didn't like about ACE was the QU tournament. I realize this might be necessary because so many teams focus on QU. Better QU than TRASH, though. I am one of ...

Maybe we'll be on the same team-if I decide to play. : ) Harding's team will be resurrected from the quizbowl dead by fall. I'm going to Harding and definitely will play and build bitter rivalries with U of A and TAMU. :)

I'm all about getting more for the entry fee. I'd like to see NAQT Nationals go to full round robin. :)

Omigosh, the Cambridge Factfinder is wrong! So much for the notion of a universal credible source of information. We still beat you by 60. :)

Here's my updated top five (or so) for Arkansas this year: 1. Benton. Although they have lost to us twice, both losses were either due to weird format twists or difficult questions slowing the pace of the game. DJ and Adam are both very knowledgable and insanely fast. 2. Cutter Morning Star. We have...

No matter what outsiders think, Arkansas is a strong quiz bowl state. Several teams that I have played this year have the potential to do well in the national tournaments. Here's my unofficial list of the Arkansas teams nobody wants to see sitting at the other table: 1. Cutter Morning Star. I don't ...
