Re: Harvard Mirror in GA (11-15-08)

The uneven number of teams due to the late withdrawal of Norcross made for uneven brackets that would have forced 10 rounds to get a double round robin. At lunch, it became apparent that was not a practical option and we switched to the double elimination following the first round robin.

For the several schools that have mentioned they would like to play Dorman more often, just travel to almost any tournament in the Southeast. Lakeside JV was a step ahead of everyone else at the Jaguar Bowl. Norcross had some spotty results. I haven't seen this year's JV in competition yet, but I would guesss they have + speed and average depth of knowledge (for good teams). Central has an excellent JV squad. At the GCC, Norcross finished 3rd in varsity. They drew Brookwood in prelims and the loss pushed them down to the #4 seed where they played Brookwood again. Norcross actually managed more tossups than Brookwood in the rematch, but lost on bonuses (a bugaboo over the past few years for the program). ...

Also, the idea of going straight to a tiebreaker game instead of using things like PPG, PPB, head-to-head, etc, didn't really work out that well, as it led to a lot of confusion among the teams and some teams dropping out.
