FEAR - A Visual Horror Tournament
I have completed three sets of 20 visual tossups entirely on horror films that I plan to read on the Quizbowl Discord on Friday night (April 10th) at 8 PM. Each set of 20 tossups was subdivided by both decade, with the oldest films being from the 1960s and roughly half of the films being from the 20...

Vincent Du, my UNC teammate, is very good at music.
Also, if there is a myth category, Annabelle Yang from Duke is a goddess. Pun intended.

Re: 2019 Florida Spring Tournament General Discussion
I am gonna echo that this was a very fun set to play and had great difficulty control. The bonuses were long as people mentioned, which was fine for playing, but only really hurt how long the tournament could end up going. The funniest issue in the set to me was the enormous amount of Japan content ...

Re: EFT 2018 - Specific Question Discussion
Was there a good reason not to at least prompt on buffalo for the bison question? Yea, technically they are not true buffalo, but are commonly known as "American buffalo" both by the general public and indigenous groups.

Re: Clearinghouse for Random Packet Announcements
I wrote a 20/20 set about horror in media (movies, TV, and games) called HORROR and am looking to read it sometime soon in the Discord. It is slanted toward modern horror (2000s-now), but has a bit of older stuff as well. Here is a link to a straw poll. http://www.strawpoll.me/15607794 Please fill i...

Re: Thanks and General Discussion
I actually didn't notice a super large difficulty jump for tossup answer lines. It felt like there were a few outliers (Cindy Sherman, Rebecca Solnit), but I think it's pretty normal and acceptable to have outlier answer lines as long as most are within the correct difficulty range. It may be that t...

Re: PSA: Mohammed Reza Shah is not "Reza Shah"
I have yet to find a single tournament that prompts on Tokugawa for Tokugawa Ieyasu. Maybe I am simply looking in the wrong places, but all the high school and college packets I can find simply have Tokugawa underlined or have both Tokugawa and Ieyasu underlined but it instructs to accept both. In a...

Re: PSA: Mohammed Reza Shah is not "Reza Shah"
Going off this, shouldn't we not accept Tokugawa for Tokugawa Ieyasu given Tokugawa Iemitsu and many of the other shoguns during that particular bakufu were important in Japanese history. Plus, similar to Pahlavi (which is kind of added on) Tokugawa is a name he gave himself later in his career. Sho...
