Re: Studying Geography

I agree with everything Chris said, and I'd like to add a couple thoughts. 1. Remembering what you study . I (and a bunch of members of my team) swear by flashcarding (http://hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=14099), especially for geography. I card cities, rivers, mountains, ranges, ne...

Going to Dartmouth next year. I will play only if I have teammates.

Re: Discuss 2016 NHBB Nationals Here

Unfortunately we only return Colin from this year's team, although we have a few freshman/sophomores who put up good numbers at a couple regional history bowl tournaments this year.

Re: Discuss 2016 NHBB Nationals Here

I definitely agree with the above posts that clues were repeated, specifically for related answer lines in the bowl (I have 2 specific examples in mind). My team was also pretty miffed about a lightning round where getting the 7th and 8th parts were conditioned on getting the 6th part correct, as th...

Re: Massachusetts NASAT Team

I'm interested and I'm sure the rest of Lexington's A Team is as well, although money is a concern.

Re: Resetting [pt. 4 of 6]: The Quizbowl-NHBB Relationship

I'll retract some of my earlier statement. I probably overestimate the role that NHBB played in New England because of biases created by my own experiences. I by no means want to discredit the valuable and hard work of the aforementioned people. Outreach and Quiz Show probably play a bigger role tha...

Re: Resetting [pt. 4 of 6]: The Quizbowl-NHBB Relationship

Just to add my 2 cents as a current competitor. The "NHBB-to-quizbowl pipeline" really isn't as much of a thing as many people expected it to be. I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's an utter failure, as some might, as there are certainly high-profile crossovers who used NHBB as a laun...

Studying Psychology

For various reasons, I now have to study psychology. One of my teammates did pretty much only used protobowl, and he's pretty good (weird how that happened) but i'm wondering if anyone would suggest any books or any other methods to get good and real psych knowledge.

Re: FAcT X at Yale (New Haven, CT, 9/27/14)

I did find similar stat errors to those Abhinav found, including Lexington B being dealt 1 more loss than it actually had in the final standings.

Re: Over-Buzzing Problem

What my team does in practice (we had a pretty big problem with this too) is anyone who negged in practice would go to the neg jail. They would stay there for 2 or 3 tossups, and couldn't participate in the following questions. Not only does this disincentive them from negging because they get bored...

Re: New England 2014-2015

I am pretty sure Sam Q from Hingham is a Junior, and they have a strong B team, and non Jared members of A team, so they will probably remain a good team, mostly for NHBB though. Also have we confirmed that Tanmay "Boss Tweed" Khale is going to Exeter? And does Matthew Robbins still do the...
