Re: General discussion

Uh...prison was definitely not accepted for art. I negged it with prison on the Foucault clue, I think against Loudoun County. I apologize for not clarifying--I was referencing two different tossups. The "prison" tossup came up later, and 'labor camp' was accepted, and for 'art', 'paintin...

May I see the biology tossup that opened with the Ediacaran clue?
I had trouble interpreting the species name.

Re: General discussion

For the main site, a related-but-not-quite right answer was prompted, then a more specific answer was given, which the reader responded with "Way-huge anti-prompt!"; a few games earlier a reader said "No!" very sharply to an incorrect answer. There were several related/almost rig...

Re: HFT IX @ Harvard (11/15/14)

Despite the logistical hiccups, Loudoun County enjoyed the set and the tournament.
For the stats, on round 6 (Loudoun County v Lexington), we had 16.67ppb, not 5.56ppb, with a score of 245-295.

Re: 2014 PACE NSC Questions Discussion

Warriors of this culture often wore helmets made of boar tusks sewn on leather. Under a king called the wanax, this culture traded small vials of scented olive oil to Egypt, according to tablets written in Linear B. Its namesake site is home to "shaft graves" making up Grave Circle A and ...

Re: 2014 PACE NSC Questions Discussion

I loved the set overall, especially the literature! I had just a few problems with it, including the Russian women bonus (Lara/Anna/Nastassya) that was mentioned earlier. The 'Greek' literature tossup seemed more difficult than the other language questions, going to the description of Sappho in my r...

Re: 2014 PACE NSC Logistics Discussion

Everything ran well during the morning, but the delay after lunch caused our last round to finish right around 7 (instead of 6).
Overall, I was very happy with how well the tournament ran!

These were never used or submitted anywhere, but I would love to hear any feedback on them! Reese This author wrote that the title object “did not give of bird or bush / Like nothing els...

Thank you. 19. One story by this author ends “Glory to him who does die” and describes an Arabian king who leaves a Babylonian king in the middle of the desert. In another of his stories, a detective finds a dead rabbi in a hotel room and is lured Triste-le-Roi by Red Scharlach. The protagonist of o...

Re: Question Specific Discussion

Hello,

May I see the 'Borjes' and 'Tolstoy' questions? The early clues seemed harder than the other lit questions, while the tossup on Howl caused a buzzer race with "Holy!" in the first line.

Thank you,

Re: General Discussion

I enjoyed the set, although I feel that it overshot the difficulty; it was about on par with or slightly harder than the 2012 set for us.
The trash seemed to focus on sports (I don't think we broke 15 ppb on trash), and the chemistry seemed to be more difficult than the other sciences overall.

Hello,

Loudoun County is shown as having 165 bonus points for their game against Centennial in the playoffs; can you look over the score sheet for that game?

Thank you!
