You may want to visit the ASCA members list here. Even though it's from last year, it would to your advantage to send a mass invite to teams in the area you are hoping to reach.

My bad. Looked at the wrong forum topic before I made my post. Nonetheless, start making plans to attend, Trent.

Re: Alabama 2014-15

Good Hope will return three of our players from state, and one who couldn't attend due to scheduling conflicts. Two of next year's players will be attending ACE Camp in Tuscaloosa, so I am fairly certain that they are dedicated enough to try to step up and fill my place. Unfortunately, our sponsor h...

Re: South Alabama Summer Practice?

I second that. This camp has definitely helped me improve as a player. To get the most out of it, it would be best if you could get your entire team to come as well. It may seem expensive, but it is worth it. Try and talk your sponsor to come as well. They will be able to attend for free.

Re: (Re)Starting a team at the University of South Alabama

Since I'm new to the collegiate circuit, could someone give me an idea of what tournaments are around this area, approximately when they are, which ones are packet subs, and roughly how much each one costs?

You're only required to submit packets to ACF or packet sub events if a member of your team played their first college tournament >2 years ago (school year-wise). i.e. if no one on your team for 2015-16 played a college tournament before September 1, 2014, you won't have to submit any packets. Re: (Re)Starting a team at the University of South Alabama

Finding 10 members for your organization is useful for establishing official ties with your university. It's not necessary to have 10 official members to actually compete in things, however. If you guys have some source of money you're more than welcome to come play anywhere in the South. This brin...

Coaches, if you have any players that will be attending USA this fall, please give them my email ([email protected]) and have them contact me. Trying to find 10 dedicated members will be difficult, so any help is appreciated.

Re: Alabama 2014-15

I can't speak to the difficulty of MSNCT questions, but it seems like Bumpus put up pretty good stats, especially for nationals. It's not very often that Alabama has teams place in the top quarter of the field at a national event. Good job Bumpus!

I would like to see a discussion of "how to listen to tossups" because it is an under-examined skill that can have a steep learning curve for inexperienced players. This topic also relates to the idea of retaining players. If a brand-new quizbowler goes to a few practices (where most like...

With the soft deadline of March 7th quickly approaching, I'd like to know if anyone has expressed any interest this year in taking an Alabama team to NASAT. I know, Mr. Rutsky, that you previously said that you couldn't this year. Is there anybody else that would?

I second Mr. Henry's statement; Cordova IS legit. Coach Evan Underwood has done a great job turning Cordova's team around since WRK. This is going to make for a very competitive state tournament. I wonder who will step up in small schools in the coming years. Most of the teams in the Top 8 will be r...

I'm not sure about how JV regionals went, as I didn't stay for the conclusion. Nor do I know who placed 3rd and 4th in SS.

For me, I find that a cold bottle of water and a pack of Altoids will help keep you awake and alert during matches. You may want to bring two packets of the "Curiously Strong Mints" if there are more than 7 matches in your tournament. Oh, and be sure that your teammates don't see. Otherwis...
