Any update on this set’s progress and when you’re shooting for to have this played? I'm about a year and a half late here, but I really enjoyed this event and think that many others who haven't played it would too. I haven't played the set anywhere yet, so I'm planning on organizing a shootout on Discord or Zoom sometime this fall. It's all audio clip tossups, so nothing will be read.

JORDU 2: Jazz Side Event (Winter 2023)

I'm about 25% done with a follow-up to 2021's JORDU , which will be ready by this winter. The set is being written without taking into account the answerlines of the original, meaning some answerlines might be repeated between the sets. The target difficulty is slightly harder, but there will be few...

Discussion on cheating at asynchronous audio tournaments

The past few years, there has been increasing interest in a new form of pyramidal quizbowl in which players play packets of audio tossups online asynchronously (at their convenience during the day). Tournaments like MARCATO, MIKE, LIBERACE, and PAveMEnT have taken this form. I wrote for the first th...

Re: Should detailed statistics be released before a set is clear?

I think it makes the most sense for writers to get the .qbj or .json files from moderators who used MODAQ (or TDs if they collect them) and view the information locally until a set is clear. I haven't used the stats visualizer app much so I don't know if that could accomplish this but if not, maybe ...

I want to add that in my experience, most note strings are accessible, even at the highest levels of play. I would also posit that, despite being difficult to play, score clues actually demand a relatively surface-level engagement with subject matter (I also just find note-listing clues aesthetically unappealing. They slow the tossup to a crawl and completely disrupt a moderator's flow!) I think this is...
