High Tech's 23.89 ppb at PHSAT on IS-138 probably deserves a mention.

Re: NJ 2014 NAQT State Championship - May 17

Just wanted to pop in here to say that this was the most well run regular season tournament I've ever attended. Seriously, 12 rounds, a circle of death, and a substantial lunch break were done by 5:30, which was a very good job.

Re: QuBIT @ High Tech - Lincroft, NJ (2/15/14) [IMSANITY]

Unfortunately QuBIT will be canceled. We could not get enough teams signed up to financially justify the tournament, and there is a threat of snow, so we are not holding it. We would also like to apologize for the mess, and thank you for your patience.

Re: QuBIT @ High Tech - Lincroft, NJ (2/8/14) [IMSANITY]

The problem lay more with the fact the tournament was in fact losing money if it ran this Saturday, so we decided to postpone it in hope of allowing more teams to sign up. Do you have to pay to reserve rooms or something like that? Effectively. We need to pay for custodial staff to keep our buildin...

Re: QuBIT @ High Tech - Lincroft, NJ (2/8/14) [IMSANITY]

18 teams is too few for an enjoyable tournament? What? Ok, I should clarify on what's really God-awful wording on my part. "Unenjoyable" was terrible phrasing: the tournament would have been enjoyable no matter what. The problem lay more with the fact the tournament was in fact losing mon...

Re: QuBIT @ High Tech - Lincroft, NJ (2/8/14) [IMSANITY]

Unfortunately, several conflicts on the day of February 8th - the most noticeable of them Science Olympiad - have led to a field that is too small for an enjoyable tournament. To avoid these scheduling conflicts, and hopefully attract more teams to the field, we have decided to reschedule QuBIT to a...

Re: NJ State Championship Results

The lunch was probably the best (and cheapest!) one I've ever had at a quizbowl event, so I wholeheartedly support the choice of Seton Hall as the location next year. The only sort of problem was that the snow and rain in the early part of the day made any non-waterproof shoes potentially awkward, b...

We have an online skype league in the Northeast So, this is like a league, and not a tournament? So you're probably just playing 1 match per team on a given day? How do the logistics work for you? NJ/NY 2013-2014

Given that HSNCT and PACE are now done, I think that we can start making guesses about what the scene's going to look like next year: St. Joe's: had a disappointing - and one suspects rather anomalous - performance at HSNCT this year, but looked untouchable at times in the local scene. History Distribution

I've been looking at the History distributions for NAQT, PACE, and ACF, and it appears that PACE and ACF have a disproportionate amount of their questions about European History. In both cases, the ideal distribution is something around half of the history questions. Why is it so high? Is it because...
