Re: 2016 HSNCT discussion
The inertia question happened to be in one of the packets that I was helping to edit. I'm not especially up on my physics, so I didn't attempt to make any definitive determination about the question as a whole, but I did spend some time reading about the first sentence. Here is that sentence: "...

Re: radiohead can't spell the word "full"
I haven't listened to it enough to have a real opinion yet, but so far this is a lot more mellow/brooding/orchestral than past Radiohead has been. I'm not sure it'll be a giant commercial hit but I certainly like it.

Re: Factual Errors
My teammate got negged for saying "Ethelred the Unready" (he couldn't pull the correct number). This seems pretty silly to me, since I've never heard him called anything but Ethelred the Unready.

Re: Best Albums of 2015
Carrie and Lowell is good, but Sufjan has made several albums that are better than it, if you ask me, like Seven Swans (maybe my favorite) and Illinois. Although I'd agree with you that both Seven Swans and Illinois are better than Carrie and Lowell, I don't see how this has any relevancy to the to...

Re: Best Albums of 2015
I remembered disliking TPAB a lot when it came out, but in the interest of fairness I listened to it again last night. It still sucked. Musically, there are very few inspiring songs/songs that I would like to listen to again: in fact, there are a lot of songs that I actively disliked listening to (&...

Re: Understanding science topics
Yeah, to piggyback on what others have said -- understanding ladder operators isn't really possible without the sufficient background in math. If you want to learn about physics or QM, you have to take the subject as a whole or in pretty large chunks, like "thermodynamics" or "mechani...

Re: HSQBRank 2015-16
Dear everybody: There is someone commenting on the rankings under my name. It is not me. I do not know who it is, but I know someone has been impersonating members of LASA--on the elevator at HSNCT Ethan met another team and asked who they were and they said they were LASA. It might be the same peop...

Re: ACF Fall for high schoolers
To me, the biggest argument why high schoolers could be upset at ACF is this: 1) High schoolers are given the same restrictions and requirements as college teams (arguably, due to the lack of "New to..." discounts, there are greater barriers for high school teams). 2) At the same time, the...

Re: History Player
While we're on the subject of military history, Strategy and Tactics of Great Generals and Their Battles is a really great book--it's only got fifteen or so battles, from Napoleon to the Korean War, but it spends a whole chapter dissecting each one and what happened on a minutely tactical level. You...

Ok, that makes a lot of sense.
FWIW, I did like the chemistry in this set a lot and I don't mean to be overly critical. Also the rest of this set. It was pretty great.

Re: 2015 PACE NSC: Question set discussion
I was very disappointed by the lack of organic chemistry throughout this set. From what I gather, the main argument against its inclusion is that it's "too hard" or whatever for high schoolers, but I don't see how replacing it with the uncommon answerlines you mentioned above makes things...

"Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons" seemed like an unforgiving answerline, although that might be my lack of upper-level orgo experience speaking. We said 'arenes' and weren't prompted or anything.

Re: 2014 PACE NSC Questions Discussion
Opinion is divided on whether Jude the apostle is the same as Jude, brother of Jesus, who is mentioned in Mark 6:3 and Matthew 13:55-57, and is the traditional author of the Epistle of Jude. Some Catholics believe the two Judes are the same person, while a number of Protestants do not. I'd always h...

I too really enjoyed this -- thanks to Eric and Ramapriya for setting this up and giving me a chance to play this. There were some very interesting clues and answerlines, and I'm looking forward to going through this set at a more leisurely pace.

Could I see the chemistry tossup on eliminations? It was in one of the later Sunday rounds, maybe Round 21.
