Re: Favorite Books or Other Works of Literature?

Re: Studying History

I've found that while it does help to be a good generalist, it can also help if you specialize in a particular era, such as Ancient, Medieval, U.S., Modern, etc. I don't know why, but I've somehow found non-European names and events easier to memorize, probably due to the fact that non-western histo...

Good tournament overall and thanks to all the writers and staffers.
Was the McDonalds tossup supposed to social science, history or general knowledge?
Also I feel that first clue on Profumo affair was practically identical to an old NHB question.

Re: Evolution of a Quizbowl Player

Because I went to an "intermediate school"(8th and 9th grade in the same school, 10-12 at the high school) freshman year, I only did a minor local, buzzer based competition with the High School that year. Sophomore year, I was at a completely new school and was sort of thrust into Scholast...

Re: What Happens to DC-Area Quizbowl Next Year?

Woodgrove has graduated quite a few seniors this year(myself included), although if the rest of the team continues to study and practice, I think they should do well. Also, does anyone know about the VHSL restructuring?

Re: History Distribution

Being more of a history person, it does seem odd that in VHSL competitions, many packets seem to be either 1/3 history (mostly European and U.S.), or more recently 1/3 science, which can make the distribution unpredictable with no specific formula.

ACF Feedback

I have sent questions to ACF twice and have not received any feedback. Does anyone know how I can get some feedback? Thanks.

Re: How to Buzz

If the answer to a question is sentimental or if I know it on the first clue, my buzzing in will become more exaggerated. Also, losing a buzzer race also has a tendency to exaggerate movement.

Re: It's Ac Tapings for Next Season

Although, it seemed for us both this year and last, we had tappings the same days as the NHB, which is why we didn't do the bowl this year.

Woodgrove expresses interest, and the 18th will work best for us.

Re: Left-Wing Questions?

It does also seem odd that quite a few literature questions deal with mature topics, and still controversial books like Brave New World and the Catcher in the Rye(just to name a few), although they might be considered tame by today's standard. On a lighter note: "Reality has a well-know liberal...

Re: Where Will You Be Going to College Next Year? 2012-13

I will be attending William and Mary, and plan on playing quizbowl, although I haven't been able to find any information about their team.

Also, is anybody doing the U.S. Geography Challenge at Nationals?
