Re: Losing Steam and Motivation in College

This post is something that I struggled with when I first joined college as well. When I started college as a freshman, I was only interested in staying in quizbowl as a staffer. And for a while, that's really all that I did! I think Mike makes an excellent point about separating the different porti...

Re: Spartan Housewrite: Specific Question Discussion

For packet 1, Bonus 10, our team answered "Adonis" and were told this answer was not acceptable for "Adunis". I believe that should be an acceptable alternate answer.

I also think Ballard will be very very good and they were not included in previous lists. Jack Zhang is a senior and averaged 59.02 at HSNCT Even scarier, I believe Jack Zhang might only be a junior next year (he was a freshman all-star from Kentucky last year along with Olivia Kiser I believe). I ...

Re: Kentucky 2013-14

I haven't seen Trimble County mentioned yet. They only appeared at our Spring tournament (outside of KAAC), but James Line did really well for them. I don't know if he's coming back, but since they nearly made the top bracket in a really tough tournament, they have a real shot at doing well this se...

Obviously I'm not Nick so I can't speak with absolute certainty, but I believe he was looking at an easierish housewrite similar to the MSU/UD housewrite mirrored last fall.

I was going to wait until after the full recap to post this, but I guess I'll go ahead and do it now. I'd like to thank Nick for a very well ran tournament that was able to give us 9 good games in what I felt was a decent time. My team had a fun time at this tournament and we're certainly looking ah...

I guess I'll just throw in my two cents for the parts of this that I actually know something about. I personally will be attempting to attend as ...

- Inappopriately hard bonuses. I got the sense that this set wanted to be a nationals prep for any high school team while remaining playable for the vast majority of regular high school teams. However, I read quite a few bonuses today that seemed to run counter to this goal. The most egregious exam...

ACE Practice Questions

I decided to read some of the released ACE practice tests tonight and I was wondering what score you guys would constitute as a player being competent in each category. Granted, these scores will obviously change by test, and it is also different when you're not in a game scenario or power-marked, b...

At the past two tournaments or practices I've gone to, I have gotten questions based off school names from this forum. For example, I read a sample NHBB packet and got a question about the state quarter with Caesar Rodney on it because of that school being on this forum.

On March 3rd there was a tournament in Kentucky featuring such teams as DuPont manual and (a weakened) Dunbar. However, that tournament only has game results, so I'm assuming you can't really do much with that info?

If they've done it the way they have for the last few years, then yes. The upper and lower brackets remain completely separate until the finals.
