Re: Guerilla Social Science (Terrapin Open Side Event)

Hey folks - an update on this. I'm not sure it's going to be reasonable for me to try to make this work for Terrapin, given the current lack of people interested in submitting. I'd like to make this happen, but perhaps it's not reasonable to ask for people to submit to this at the same time as they ...

I might be able to contribute a few questions but don't have time to write a full packet. Email me if you want to collaborate. Which I guess goes against the spirit of the rules here but this is a guerilla tournament after all.

Re: Fall Open at NYU (Nov. 9, 2019)

Yeah, I'm not going to pretend that I'm not disappointed by what happened - we played extremely well and were unfairly denied a chance to play a final despite the tournament finishing at a very reasonable time of 6pm. I get NYU's reasoning for choosing to not have one originally, as the plan was a 1...

Minor thing - the statistics seem to be counting tiebreaker games as full games for PPG purposes (i.e. Columbia 2019 is counted as playing 17 games, but it played only 16 games worth of tossups).

Re: Abolish packet submission for ACF Fall

I think Ophir, Andrew, and Jonathan make persuasive arguments for the community value of packet submission - when you see that a packet is "Michigan A" then you know the Michigan team contributed to the packet and that helps institutionalize things in a way that's difficult to put a value on. ACF is...

You don't have to "graduate" from it, but the idea is that after two years, you at least have sufficient experience to try writing for it. I felt that the Hanukkah tossup was way too easy with the lead-in. Anyone who went to Hebrew School at any point could first-line it. 1. Decrease the size of submissions. For a team of new writers, 12/12 is a lot ... the burden could be significantly lessened by reducing the submission size to 6/6 (or even 4/4).
