In Defense of Region-Locked Tournaments as a Outreach Tool
I was going through some tournament results earlier and noticed something: since the 2019-20 season, I believe no high school quiz bowl tournament held in Washington, DC has had more than one DC-based school. One even had zero Washington, DC-based schools. Obviously, these tournaments are drawing lo...

Re: IQBT Tag Team Championship - 8/3-8/4, Online - Preliminary Announcement
I have updated the original post with information including cost per team. Note that there is a caveat about the exact entry fee for the tournament, as I have not decided on if this will be a one-day or two-day event. I am in the process of checking that this tournament doesn't run afoul of Missouri...

I genuinely prefer to attribute situations like this to honest mistakes rather than ill will. Shiva told me that he misread the first eligibility rule (which was Thursday, not Friday) as specifying at a non-novice college tournament, like the second one does. I could see myself making the same mista...

I've discovered UCF played with an ineligible player. I've had to rule their games to be forfeits. I was incredibly disappoined to discover that this was not Shiva/UCF's first offense.
