Re: ACF Nationals 2014 qualifying system

It seems pretty obvious to me that teams like Carleton and others are only deserving of a spot in a nationals field if we play well enough to merit it. Any team at our level feeling robbed of their opportunity to play at the national level because they are the 41st best team in the country or whatev...

Re: CAHOOTS: A Spring Guerilla Tournament

I second that YES. Also, some people have been asking, so: there are no deadlines for submitting to this, I'll take and submissions as they come in. It would be ideal if potential submissions could come in by May 15th or so in order for me to get them ready for the site on the 18th. That said, feel ...

Re: CAHOOTS: A Spring Guerilla Tournament

That's pretty much how it will work, Mike. Some of this will also depend on how many people show up. Which might be a lot, considering this might be the only competitive multi-packet pun trivia event, you know, ever.

Congratulations to Wayzata A, SnowCAT champions for another year. They defeated Eden Prairie A 370-145 in the championship game. St. Thomas Academy took third with DeLaSalle right behind them in fourth. Thanks again to all teams for coming and making this year's tournament another success.

You could combine your event with CAHOOTS, have the tournament played in May, and gain access to a nice bundle of other content too.

Re: CAHOOTS: A Spring Guerilla Tournament

No. Contributing to the tournament gives you the right to mirror it if you wish, but you certainly do not need to write anything to play.

That said, some sort of TV packet would be a welcome addition Mike.

Re: The Logic of an Upper Midwest ACF Regionals Site

Carleton and Minnesota striking an agreement stating that neither of us would host a mirror of Regionals and instead travel somewhere would effectively mean that no other teams in our state would end up playing Regionals, unless St. Thomas or the seemingly somewhat reinvigorated Macalester program t...

Re: The Logic of an Upper Midwest ACF Regionals Site

The Minnesota/Wisconsin/Iowa circuit is a strange case, I think. If the U of M and Carleton choose to host mirrors, we save ourselves the drive and make a little extra cash for our team budgets. This is great for tournaments like Novice, Fall, and MUT, because the other schools in the area will atte...

Re: Fall 2012 schedule discussion

Here is how I see this situation: The November schedule, as usual, is locked down w/ Fall, MO, and Delta Burke. That doesn't need to be changed. Late October has Penn-ance, which seems like the right kind of event to put immediately before Fall. Now, two harder tournaments in the fall is something t...

Hey Ohio State, Illinois, or anyone else -- Carleton College has been doing some work on a new tournament for next year (this was hesitantly going to be CUT XIII) but I think it would be great to team up with someone else for a MUT-level difficulty event. Re: Minnesota 2011-12

I agree with Mike - its important to give an event like MUT some quirks and to let it step out of the purely canonical information somewhat, not only because its interesting for better players but because it broadens the canon itself.

Guys,

I'm assuming you have spring break Mar. 12 and Mar. 19. So what about Mar. 5 or Mar. 26? You would be in conflict with IO and Buzzerfest, but that is not near as bad as playing against ICT, Nats, or MUT.
