Interview Question: Why do you do Quizbowl? etc.

Re: The place of zoology in the bio distribution
I did think about how there are a ton of Econ majors, etc. However, how many undergrad-accessible answer lines and clues are there for Econ compared to the fields of Biology? I think it would be very, very easy to expand the distribution for Bio and still have very engaging answers and clues at the ...

Re: The place of zoology in the bio distribution
Any other biology majors feel like the distribution should be ~1.5 compared to Chem and Physics at 1? It seems like there are a ton of massive, undergrad-accessible fields for bio that are easily incorporated into Quizbowl. 1. Medical stuff (physiology, anatomy; we don't even have courses in these h...

Would it be possible to move this tournament back to the next Saturday? I think Saturdays are a bit more convenient for some people...it's also the last two days of Princeton's fall break so if it were moved back we would definitely attend.

I spent some time looking for an answer but couldn't find it. Are there plans to allow off-date hosting of ACF tournaments? Re: future of the Torrey Pines housewrite
If set A is unsatisfactory then they should move to set B. We did not believe our questions were bad. If that was their opinion, they should not have gone through with using the tournament. I don't think you understand how this works. The onus is not on the hosts to check that a set is good. The on...

We took care of criticism from the Macomb mirror (which from our side sounded like it turned out fine) and cleared it. This is almost 100% false. In general, it is not a good idea to expect a host to edit your tournament. Apparently I'm a really sh---y poster because people are having a hard time understanding my posts. I did not say that we expected them to edit the tournament. I said they had a choice for which set to host and chose ours. ...

Being good at Quizbowl has nothing to do with intelligence--it just takes hard work as long as you start out with an average memory. Also, Quizbowl shouldn't be compared to school at all. It's a game... If the tournament was regular difficulty, take them to novice tournaments. People have recommende...

I'm not sure what you mean by a "Blackout Date," but if it means that you shouldn't host a tournament on such dates then that's pretty foolish. It's been shown time and time again that tests dates and other activities don't result in a significant drop in team attendance. They are dates t...
