Re: Ben Cooper Memorial Mirror - 5/8 - Champaign, IL
Hmmm...IMSA had a nice match with Loyola, it seemed to be a very close match. I looked at the rosters and it seems they had a no-name varsity team consisting of people like Eric Ordonez, Webster Guan, Sarah Lisk, and Sai Parapelly. I only recognize Sai Parapelly...and they didn't even have Bonny Jai...

Re: IHSA Sectionals results and discussion
IHSA State Predictions: Class A Pool 1: New Berlin > SJO > Farmington > Fairfield Class A Pool 2: Lisle > Macomb > Winnebago > Herrin 3rd place: Macomb > SJO ... Macomb can simply put up more points than SJO 1st place: Lisle > New Berlin ... credit to New Berlin, but Lisle is Lisle Class AA Pool 1: ...

Re: Anti-computation article
Both the antecedent and conclusion of the statement you are discussing are false.[/qoute] Who says "antecedent"? Probably the same people who say "surd". Oh wait, did you write that surd question for last year's IHSA State Series? To use mathematical terms, we start from axioms ...

Re: IHSA Sectionals results and discussion
So what's the concensus explanation for why both Masonic champs are out? Are people going to blame this on how awful they think Masonic is or on how awful they think IHSA State Series is?Westwon wrote:In a big surprise, Litchfield is out.

Re: February Poll
Ok, so I was a bit premature on Mahomet-Seymour, Niles West, Rockford Guilford, and (most likely) Normal University. However, FYP: IMSA 434 St. Charles East 220 IMSA 403 Wheaton-Warrenville South 226 IMSA 416 Naperville Central 236 Impressed yet, Mike? Also, my choice of Loyola as overrated has been...

Re: Letter to Questions Galore
I agree that the tone of the QG letter was much more "I'm trying to impress my friends on a quizbowl forum by telling QG what's what" than "I'm making a genuine attempt to make a positive change". I'd be surprised if they got past the first instance of CLOOS.

Re: Anti-computation article
Interesting that you make a point that you are all math majors and proceed to make an example of the most unmathematical statement possible: I have never seen X, so X does not exist. In your case, X= computational math question.

Re: A theory on toss-up/bonus pairing
I don't understand what the issue with math is here. The same is true if you replace math with anything: whenever an ANYTHING tossup dies, the proportion of ANYTHING bonuses goes up. With that understanding, a team which is weak in ANYTHING will be punished two-fold (once by dead toss-up and once by...

Re: February Poll
So Top Five Teams overlooked in February poll? My vote: 1. Niles West - Never knew they were that good but you don't beat Ig without being a premier team. 2. Mahomet Seymour - Triumphed to take down the Regional at Champaign Centennial, the premier scholastic bowl program in east central Illinois. 3...
