Re: 2015 ACF Fall general discussion
The difficulty was inconsistent in parts, and I'll talk about more specific questions later, but in my opinion 'reaction rates' was a god-awful tossup, and I'm pretty sure that the first two clues also refer to 'rate constant' (which wasn't accepted or prompted) and that means the TU is non-specifi...

Re: Fine arts/music
4) Consider an album like Pet Sounds that is simultaneously popular and (at least to some extent) considered to have artistic and technical merit. There is obviously a way to write a tossup on this album that is very clearly trash. Is there a way to write a good tossup on this album that focuses ex...

Déjà vu ( http://hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=13240 ); I have no more to say on the subject... Well my bad, I thought I looked through the college and HS discussion threads before I posted this, but I must have scanned to quickly. Anyway I'll go ahead and make my point here and go ...

The line between QB music and Trash music
Honestly, as someone who has learned music up until I finished High School QB, I cannot see a distinguishing feature of what we should classify as "music" in quizbowl. You might say only classical music, but that can be thrown out given that Stephen Foster is a commonly used answer choice,...

I just tried on a Windows OS. It still didn't work in FF, but it worked in IE. I was using a university computer, which didn't have chrome, so I couldn't test that.

Distribution question.
Are you considering opera, ballet, and musicals in Music or in "Other Art"?

Re: ACF Distribution
I really don't have much of a problem with the ACF distribution, but based on what we are required to submit in packets I think the subdistribution has a few problems. First, I'd say that the history distribution is extremely skewed towards European History. Furthermore (also based on the submission...

The Taxonomy bonus that went Platyhelminthes/Annelida/Mollusca was frustratingly easy. Other than that and the tossup on Nazi Gold, I don't think there was much wrong.

Why not use a housewrite like DAFT or the Ohio State set?
Also, this coincides with my Fall Break, so, Mr. Edelstein, if you need any readers, I'd be glad to help.

I don't see much of a problem with increasing finals difficulty if its only the clues that are increasing in difficulty. I understand that the results of the finals could be skewed if the answer difficulty goes up significantly, but whats wrong with a difficult tossup on Hemingway or Neptune?

Re: NAQT distribution change for 2011-12
I'd like to see less noncomputational math and more of other science like Astronomy and Earth Science. Considering that math isn't even a science in itself (although that is debatable), I feel the distribution should shift more towards actual natural sciences. On the other side of things, I think th...

The NPR Listener's Encyclopedia of Classical Music is an excellent resource for studying music. However, it also has stuff that never comes up, and its not the best guide for Opera either.

I was shocked that the Rydberg Formula was tossed up in an IS set. I know it was tossed up at HSNCT, and it seems suitable there, but I thought it was entirely too hard for an IS set

Since its not here yet, I guess I'll create it. Given my high expectations from reading last years set, I was thoroughly disappointed with the science from this set. I found the issue with the length's of sides of triangles, was that it was a lengthy and difficult to figure out. Even if one realizes that "hinge theorem", "Ceva's Theorem", or "Hero's formula" are inexplicable linked to triangles, he/she would be inclined to guess a q...

I agree that the bonus difficulty did fluctuate quite a bit.
I thought that "length of sides of triangles" was a bit awkward for an answer choice. Otherwise, I thought those questions (that I did play or watch) were well written.
