cheating?
I think if you argue that searching for quiz bowl questions online and studying them for practice is cheating, then you'd have to argue that reading any novel or looking at any painting that is asked about is cheating also. Sounds like initiative to me and every player has the same access.

Start this spring with an interest organizational meeting, maybe have a few fun practices, with pizza or popcorn even. Ask other teachers talk it up and post announcements.

How to Host
Are there any new sites with gudes/directions/tips on how to host a tournament? A step-by-step that could be adapted for people considering hosting their own tournament, reluctant to take the plunge. In addition to the excellent document by Dr. Chuck at http://www.cwru.edu/orgs/trivia/internet/offic...

Question sources
I know there are a few sites out there that list question writing companies. However, the ones that I'm familiar with are somewhat outdated. Does anybody know where one would find a comprehensive, up-to-date list of question sources? In regards to the National Organization talk that's been going on ...

Yesterday, I had the thought that there are some words that come up in questions occasionally that might be unfamiliar to some players, but which might aid them in answering a question. Specifically yesterday, we heard the words TITULAR and EPONYMOUS. Granted, experienced quiz bowlers should recogni...

The former system was too much for me to deal with as a tournament director. It required too many steps and keeping up with too much stuff (passwords and such). It wasn't worth my time to update it.

Question: I'm not familiar with Ohio rules, but is it actually possible to make a protest after a match in other high school formats? In Georgia, we're pretty consistent that no protest may be considered after the reader has started the next question.

overall championship
Having an overall championship encompassing all the divisions is an interesting idea. There are two problems though: 1) it would require four more rounds of questions minimum (maybe five if you want a cushion) which means more money and more trouble. Just ask the question writers how they feel about...
