Re: Quizbowl-"Trivia" Community Relations: What Are They? What Should They Be?

This has been an incredibly interesting thread. I’ve played a fair amount of pub quizzes, particularly in the UK, and while they’re good fun, I’ve also sometimes found them less intellectually satisfying. I do not mean with relation to the subject matter being asked about but rather the format of q...

Re: Quizbowl-"Trivia" Community Relations: What Are They? What Should They Be?

You can sometimes FEEL OQLUSA's quizbowl background pretty intensely in some of the canon we cover in our academic subjects. My whole writing training came from quizbowl, and you can feel a sort of "bonus part" style in my writing which has bled out somewhat into the format. Check out our ...

Online Quiz League USA - Demo Game and Interest Post

The Online Quiz League is a 4-v-4 format played weekly over Zoom. Quite a few current and past QBers have been playing this season, and we want more if there's interest! The distribution is similar to many British quiz companies and is kind of an academic-trash hybrid with a slight academic lean. Ev...

The publicity is almost certainly good *for* quizbowl, in that it will probably help "recruiting" somewhat and provide more exposure for the activity. That's great! I do not know if it is good for ex-quizbowlers who put the fact that they used to captain a team/founded a student organizati...

I was thinking about starting a quiz bowl team at Campbell. I still am, but I'm thinking differently about it now. I don't have a problem with doing that in tossups, but some of the bonuses were probably converted more than you might have wished because you sometimes gave a very large number of different clues for various answers, which occasionally felt like overkill.
