Re: Getting Good at History
I have to recommend Larry Gonick's Cartoon History of the Universe and Cartoon History of the Modern World. These books are surprisingly in-depth and very quick to read. They also come with bibliographies of more scholarly works if you want to dig even deeper.

Re: Music Theory Help
I just finished AP Music Theory, so I found quite a few helpful sites for the technical aspects of music theory during my time studying. I don't know how often they'd come up in quizbowl, but I hope they help: http://www.musictheory.net/ (this site is the most basic, if you're not too skilled yet) h...

New Practice Techniques?
I'm the president of my high school's Academic League (Southern California quizbowl) club/team next year, and probable varsity captain for next year as well. Re: Want to get a literature foundation
As my team's "lit person," I have to say that for me, it's mostly having read the books that helped me (well, and having a mother who's an English teacher, but I don't think that's something you can easily acquire). However, I think that having a good knowledge of authors and their works h...

Equal represenation in Quizbowl
I'm the member of a Southern California Quizbowl team, and we have a problem. We have a team of about 20-something, and only two of us are girls. Unfortunately, many of our team members don't find this a problem and therefore haven't tried to solve it, and so we have a lot of trouble recruiting girl...
