Re: 2012 Texas Invitational (Feb 17-18)
We played 19 rounds today and finished at 8:40. Hunter won the NAQT portion by beating Bellarmine twice in a row in the last two rounds. The prelims for ACF Regionals were also played with the top 12 teams doing a playoff tomorrow morning. Stats can be found at texasquizbowl.org.

Re: Lone Star State (Texas) 2011-2012
Next year will be something of a rebuilding year for Texas with the departure of last year's LASA A and Jiawei from Seven Lakes, but this leaves the field more open than it has been for a while. I'd say Seven Lakes is the best team going into next year followed by LASA and then Cistercian.

While I'm far from being the authority, what I know is that Kealing is one of two AISD magnet middle schools, and LASA is the lone (?) magnet high school. I think that TQBA's concern is that tournaments with difficult questions (dominated by a few teams that are used to the difficult questions) tend to chase off the majority of newcomer teams. Re: Texas '08-'09
For what it is worth, I do think that we should continue to play NAQT sets in Texas for a couple of reasons: 1. They (especially A-packets) can help bring in teams from Chip (think St. Mark's this year). For the sake of good tournaments, however, I would limit such use of A-packets to maybe the firs...
