I just don't think I should have to learn the in's and out's of the Bible, a book from a religion I don't subscribe to, to be a good quizbowler. Who's says you need to read the Bible itself? Pick up Britannica and read about major books and figures from the Bible. Even doing that you should be able...

This is understandable because it seems to me that the average college student would be more likely to take classes in one of the more established scientific fields like chemistry, biology, or physics rather than computer science to fulfill whatever the general education requirement for what the st...

Must be Georgia math.

My theory is that perhaps you have to state in advance that you're choosing the no-packet option. If one chooses to do a packet, then presents it the day of the tournament, one is then charged $95.

The only way I can see cancellations being a huge issue is if people just don't show. Even emailing the night before or calling the day of (if its afternoon registration) isnt bad, because it only really takes 10 minutes or so to adjust those schedules. But if 5 teams decided just not to show, then ...

I recall someone mentioning that in the 2004 ICT finals, R. got through 16 questions in the first half (or something like that). I do remember the pack finishing with about 2 minutes on th...

My premise was that in a thread entitled "Double Standard" complaining that TRASH got a pass, I saw a double standard going against TRASH. The quote was a "hypothetical", created for the purpose of illustrating that point. I DIDN'T complain about the difficulty of ACF Fall or ACF...

Sunshine State Invitational

On January 14, 2006, in sunny Gainesville, Florida, the 17th Sunshine State Invitational will be held. It will be ACF-style with power tossups, and questions will be written in-house by the University of Florida College Bowl team, so packet submission is not necessary. However, if you would like to ...

I wouldn't say that refusing to run an event against a football game is cowardly. I think the main thing here is a difference in scale: Memorial Stadium (UIUC) 70,904 Kyle Field (Texas A&M) 87,555 Sanford Stadium (UGA) 92,746 Neyland Stadium (UT-Knoxville) 104,079 Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (Gaine...

So Matt, you've just posted another version of "NAQT sucks, I want to know the distribution" whine. If they posted the distribution and varied from it, I'm sure there'd be a whole thread about that. As for now, there's a general distribution, and like any tournament, variations happen.

A question in which almost everyone knew the answer was either Sacco or Vanzetti at or before the FTP prompt and was waiting for the giveaway clue of either 'Sacco' or 'Vanzetti' (the latter of which actually appeared as the giveaway; this was a larger buzzer race than the 'John Paul II' question)....
