ANNOUNCEMENT: Sunshine State Invitational 1/13/07

On January 13, 2007, the University of Florida will host the 18th Sunshine State Invitational. It will be ACF-style with power tossups, and questions will be written in-house by the University of Florida College Bowl team, so packet submission is not necessary. Also, the next day, an as-yet unnamed ...

Speaking just for myself, I enjoy playing on ACF Regionals questions just as much, if not more, than I enjoy playing on Sword questions. Just because I can have a light-hearted attitude and enjoy myself on lower-quality easier questions doesn’t mean I am espousing any sort of "moral superiori...

His point seemed to be that I make mistakes too in my questions. Well, there's no doubt about that, but this isn't one of them. You won't find a bigger advocate of researching questions properly than myself, but it would be absurd to demand that everyone write their questions straight out of works ...

I do call the several errors factual, but I don't think this is the appropriate place to have a debate over the provenance of the F.C., so I invite you to IM me or email me to continue the debate, if you like.

I definately would not call Sword the "worst ever" either. I thought the tournament was fine, with the most annoying problem being the bonus difficulty level being so varied. I was excited to get to leave by 8:30 (because of our 7 hour drive), which is earlier than I was expecting for thin...

Hi again,

Because of the overwhelming response in the last 24 hours, the tournament is now tentativly capped until we secure more readers and scorekeepers. If you still want to register teams, we will have a waiting list when you email your information to Stephen.

Thanks again,

Ya, the readers that were from UTC were great, its just that we happened to get stuck in the rounds with readers from the teams on their bye 6 out of the 8 round-robin matches.

I would just like to say that I am not Kelly Barone, as our pack was labeled, but in fact, Kelli Wood :) The main thing I didn't like was the repeats- a certain scientist came up 4 or 5 times. Also, I found it unfortunate that our team was read to by a reader from the team that had a bye 6 out of th...

Spectacular Tournament @ Graceland University

I am going to a weeklong christian camp (only because of a $1000 bribe) @ Graceland University. Apparently they have a big double elimination quiz bowl tournament, and they asked me to be the captain of the southeastern region delegation. I was wondering if anyone had ever heard of this and has info...

actually, i like college questions a lot better, at least in my focus, which is humanities. they ask for a lot more in depth knowledge, and no one buzzes in and says "Van Gogh" when they ask for a dutch painter... at least this is what a saw @ UF and heard from some college players...

We've tried to resolve the problem in the same manner that many schools do, which is having a separate practice (on Tuesday nights) exclusively for Div II players and an open practice (on Wednesday nights) for all players. The goal, of course, is to keep from discouraging new players while still gi...

haha well well, if you look at the official state tournaments for Florida from last year ( i.e. CAC and Beta) youd have to put Leon on there....they won the state division II by a landslide and competed in a lot of tournaments.
