Re: 2009 ICT discussion

Another thing I wanted to bring up though was that this year I thought the moderators were superb. In the past I had been disappointed with the quality of NAQT mods, but this year whether it was the 10-minute-half change or just sheer luck I found that the readers we had were markedly better and ma...

Re: 2009 ICT discussion

Another tossup that was irritating was the extinction tossup. It had several clues that pointed in one direction (I believe in the context of psychology), and the last line was something along the lines of "...this is FTP what term that also describes a species that has been wiped out" and...

Re: 2009 ICT discussion

I'd have to say that in my mostly sitting on the side watching my team play, I didn't notice anything extremely bad question-wise at the tournament. I agree with some of my teammates that literature questions were too list-based; instead of rewarding in-depth knowledge about a work, the lit question...

Re: SCT 2009 discussion

Not exactly, as it clearly says to proceed with whichever method sees more questions read.

Re: Basileus 2.0

Afterwards, Tim was missing between rounds. Why? This is when he was asked to show his notebook to the DII TD (DI and DII were in different buildings and run separately). We didn't know at the time; he just was missing between rounds. When he came back, he was upset, asked me to take captaining dut...

Re: NAQT SCT Southeast @ UGA (2/7/09)

As a teammate of Tim's during the tournament, I'd like to take a moment to stand up for him and address the issue at hand as I saw it. I was not with him during the night leading up to the tournament, and have no way to absolutely verify the truth to Tim's account of not accessing the questions on t...

I would also like to add in that TD's should make sure they have readers read at practice to ensure they don't constantly mispronounce common words or have a tendency to lapse into a fake British accent while reading quickly, as it can get extremely distracting. Also, ensuring you don't have a reade...

Nice mischaracterization of me there, DumbJaques. Please don't misquote me or take what I say out of context. Anyway, I really don't mean to single out the FSU team by this, because they've always been friendly and likable. My only point is that it's clearly stated that d1 and d2 share questions, t...

I tried to post this before the server crashed again... --It is not obscure that d1 and d2 packets share questions. An experienced program like Florida State should definitely be aware of this. --The incident caused the that match to be run on a different set of questions than the other matches in t...

Like I said, The FSU team seemed to be very honest about the situation, and that wasn't the entire reason the match got delayed. There were also three protests lodged that didn't relate to the issue with part of the packet being repeated. One of those made the difference between us losing the match ...

Can someone explain to me exactly what happened with Florida State's d2 team already having heard some of the questions in their playoff match with Georgia? I have some things I would like to say about that, but I definitely don't want to make an ass of myself by talking before I've heard all the i...

I have to say that generally, I thought the questions were well-rounded. I actually like a tournament that features a fair amount of trash, geography, and general knowledge questions. In general, I felt that in the D-II packets we used at Alabama this weekend, there was a good balance. Sometimes the...
