Re: Pennsylvania 2009-2010

Moravian had our first practice yesterday. We return two from last year's HSNCT team. We're still not sure about our two other spots, but we had a nice turnout at practice and we hope to find two or more people to fill those spots. We will probably continue to play more in the NJ/NY area this season...

Our showing looked promising, with both our A and B teams (teams were mixed, not separated ...

The quality of the field is not an unknown when teams start signing up, even if those teams coming have no control over the questions they will be asked. You bring up another problem with housewrites: assurance of quality for the other teams in attendance. Housewrites vs. NAQT

With housewritten tournaments becoming more and more abundant, I was wondering if they are truly better than buying questions from a company. It's obviously more lucrative for a team to do a housewrite, but can they provide the same or better experience than company questions? What are your thoughts?

The name of the tournament will probably be the Moravian Academy Northeastern Interscholastic Academic Competition (MANIAC).

(Don't think that because the tournament has "Northeastern" in the name, only northeastern schools can come. We just needed an N for the acronym)

Within the first week of practices, it becomes obvious who the strong newcome...

We did not get a single geography question all day. Also, for the first half of the preliminaries, all "pencil and paper ready questions" were chemistry, not math. I appreciate the effort of the Yale team, but it did not measure up to an NAQT packet set.
