Re: What got you into Quizbowl?
My sophomore year I was lifting weight for morning practice, I heard some buzzers going off so I thought I would check and see if there was something wrong, I find the Academic team practicing and had no idea what was going on. I went and told my basketball coach I was done lifting and went to the p...

Re: Evolution of High School Quizbowl
I totally agree. I think that the amount of knowlege that people are willing to learn is growing. Quizbowl is becoming very popular all over the country the trend will continue. It is hard to compare teams that never get to play one another but yes the TJ 05 team is the best ever, though like you sa...

Re: My withdrawal from the Missouri market
We played in a small tournament on Bob Brown questions which are about 1 1/2 liners and it took 2 hours cause we kept answering everything. I would like to say Charlie is competely right in the fact that Missouri is going to have to change. I would settle for 30 questions that were at least 5 lines....

When we went to rolla for the NAQT tournament we have a really good geography\ history player that loved the questions there. Lets put it this way, he has every capital in the world memorized along with all of the capitals of states and providences. He knows where all mountians\rivers oceans are loc...

Re: Free Questions
This is true. I read through ACF questions and look through qbpackets.com, stanford archive, NAQT u gotta know, and about 40,000 shawn pickrell questions from the last 9 years. By reading through harder questions you build knowlege and depth and with shorter questions if they have a "though&quo...

Re: Yes, it's another thread about math
Well what I did and do to make my self a help for the team in math is to memorize a lot of numbers of different things such as factorials. I have 9! to 1! memorized. I also have several probality things memorized. I just made myself sit down and memorize a lot of stuff. This does come in handy so if...

Actually it was the first thing that I could think of. I knew it was the thinker but the poet came to mind for some reason a lot quicker. Also the way the question was worded made it make more sence. I really wasn't trying to be an ass so sorry if you took it that way. I also agree on the Rembrant q...

Yah, well hears the kicker...I learned that it was wrong on a pickrell set and guess what provider we used at our own tournament this year? Yep Pickrell, he compleatly contradicted himself. This is why I was so flabergasted.

by Deesy Does It on Mon Mar 24, 2008 7:09 pm I would personally like to see what would happen if middle schoolers started practicing then playing on A-sets. Re: The Great Middle School Pyramidal Experiment
See this is what I have been trying to do. I try and get some of the tossups (science, History, Literature) longer and make them about 4 lines. While every thing else keep around two lines to one line. Once the stuff starts to get automatic I think we will make the transition to about 4 or 5 lines. ...

Yah it a going joke for our team, since our coach is Lutheran and we have a lutheran and Catholic on the team he gets so madd. He is one of the most religous people I know and when get them he throws a fit. My captain and I laugh and our coach is glad we get them but it is a very comical time for us.

My coach and I have written some sets for our middle school. My coach and I have decided that one liners might be the best for those guys. Re: Yes, it's another thread about math
Quiz bowl is about what you learn in school. Math is the most important thing you learn in school. Therefor it should be in QB. We have a guy on our team that is going to be a math teacher, he is a total robot at math and can do about any problem that you put infront of him, whether it be physics or...
