Re: The Secret History of Shantanu, Chicago Quizbowl, and NA

I'll reply to these posts at length when I have some more time, but I want to clarify that what Marshall says does not reflect the views of the people (Matt and me) who were actually interacting with NAQT throughout this ordeal. I certainly never thought Andrew was trying to "intimidate" m...

The lecture hall that is reserved for Sunday is Harper 140, so that would be the best place to meet. All the other rooms that we reserved for Friday/Saturday are the same on Sunday, though.

Re: Chicago Open Logistics - Questions

In addition to Chicago's Judge that Donald is bringing, we currently have one working buzzer system, a knot. We've ordered more but I don't think they'll be here in time for Chicago Open. I'm unaware of any Chicago staffers beyond Jonah. The tournament is indeed in Harper again this year. I have bee...

Here's the polymerization tossup: One mechanism useful in this process includes an intermediate coordination complex containing an alkene and is named for Cossee and Arlman. A cyclic molecule is used in the ring-opening form of this process and includes less shrinkage. This process may be intiated ...

Chicago has enough interest for 3 teams (with a chance at a 4th), so 2 will definitely be there and you can put the other(s) on the wait list.

All teams should be in Harper 140 at 9:30. Note that this is not the same room Chicago tournament usually use as tournament central. We have 14 teams (including 8(!) house teams), so we will run round robins within two brackets of 7 in the morning, plus a crossover game that does not count in the st...

Re: Early Autumn Collegiate Novice at UChicago (10/9)

We should have enough staff, but if competent moderators want to come staff, they can replace some of our less experienced moderators. We are most in need of buzzer systems - we have 3 that work, but I am hoping to run a 12 team tournament, so as many buzzers as you can bring would be appreciated.

I would agree that RB looks like the team to beat next year, with Zhao and Anurag returning. Santa Monica always finds a way to be good, so even with losing some strong players, I would anticipate them near the top next year. In the next tier, I think La Jolla deserves to be considered along with TP...
