Re: Southside Invitational in Greenville SC
ehh... tying the bonuses into the questions would take some of the exciting randomness out of the game. Also I'm not sure on the other results but the semi-finalists were I believe Fort Mill A and Spartanburg and Southside Christian A beat Eastside A in an extremely close final match that ended in S...

Re: (11/15/2008) Southside Tiger Tourney at Greenville, SC
Southside Christian A beat Eastside A in sudden death overtime 270-260 after an impressive 140 comeback by Eastside A on the last couple tossups of regulation play.

Re: New Player event
I have found overzealousness tends to scare away newbies, you have to find the way to make your group seem flashy and cool without seeming like you are forcing them into something unusual and foreign. Also on days when you have newbies coming, have your better players run practice so as not to embar...

Re: Quizbowl in the news
isn't there some way that the quizbowl community can help or give them ways to set up more local, low-cost tournaments, that way they can keep competing even if they can't go to the larger tournaments?

Re: Update-Viking Invitational, (3-7-08)Spartanburg, SC 29302
good tournament guys, it was very well run, if you guys decide to run it again next year though, you really do need to bring back the bounce back rule for bonuses, I understand why you did it, and the pros and cons for taking it out are obvious. In actuality though, the bad out weighs the good from ...

Eastside has done particularly well this year, we got top sixteen at Dorman, we've still got miles to go and were losing several starters to graduation, but we've gone from losing all of our games to winning more than half in one season. I'm just surprised at how good some of the teams in the Greenv...

Two vs. Two Quizbowl?
A friend and I were talking, and we came to the conclustion that a two person-team quizbowl competition would be pretty fun, I know they have individual competitions, but I haven't heard of anything like this, I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this.

I am probably going to be captain on the Eastside Highschool Academic team, in Taylors, SC, and I'm trying to start my team in the right direction to do better than we did last year, we've started ironing out our problems and are ready to begin competing, but our real problem is the lack of tourname...
