Re: Chicago Open Trash 2018 (July 22, 2018)

Do three of the remaining free agents want to form a team? I'm not overly concerned about finding folks with complementary skill sets at this point. I just want to make sure I get to play. Message me. Once I get three responses I'll register our team. Edit: Asher and I have teamed up. We are still l...

Re: ACRONYM 11 @ U of MN - 2/18/18 (Open Event)

I guess I'll start early. Anybody need a extra player? At ACRONYM 10, as a one person team, I handed the eventual winners of the tournament their only loss of the day. The rest of my day didn't go too well, but it's a fun little story. Playing quiz bowl alone is better than not playing quiz bowl at ...

I'd like to play this tournament, but I don't really have any interest in playing it solo again this year. If anyone is looking for an extra player or would like to form a team, please let me know. Also, can I recommend updating the title of this thread to indicate the tournament is taking place in ...

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Chicago Open 2011 (July 30, 2011)

I will be playing COLT but not CO, so would be willing to moderate if needed. Though I will emphasize the "if needed" part since I wouldn't say I'm the best of moderators, but I do have experience and tend to know how to pronounce words, especially if given time to review the questions. --...

I'll throw my hat into the ring. I'll play with anyone who will take me.

Also, I'd be willing to moderate CO if needed since I have no intention of embarrassing myself by playing in that tournament. Not sure if that would give me a discount here, but also not really worried about it either way.

Re: Lames In Modern Tournaments

To me lames are just a fun gimmick. The strategy aspect of lames isn't very strong. I'm sure everyone who has played a handful trash tournaments has a story about winning a match because they lamed a crappy bonus late in the game and 30'd their new bonus, but more often than not lames either backfir...

This may be a stupid idea but I thought I would throw it out there. One big downside I could see to this is ...
