Re: Georgia 2008-2009

Mr. Barry, who no longer posts here, asked me to post the updated list for both 5A and 4A for State this coming Friday and Saturday in Athens. Note: these schools have all been emailed tournament details in a confirmation email and should know to report to CSHS in Athens between 4:30 and 5pm on Frid...

Re: Georgia 2008-2009

There's no clear-cut Varsity favorite as of right now. Chattahoochee destroyed Brookwood at UGA (twice), and Walton definitely played the better game against us at CATT. Chattahoochee and Walton have won and lost to each other as well. Alpharetta and Central Gwinnett have made leaps and bounds. Stat...

Re: Georgia 2008-2009

Thank you, Mr. Rountree. Chattahoochee played an amazing match, and it was extremely unfortunate that the final was decided with some disgustingly obscure, random 3rd-part of a bonus (belly-dancing unions, seriously?). It was good to see Austin playing with the team -- he's really good and makes for...

Re: ACE Camp

A handful of Georgia schools (Brookwood, Chattahoochee, Walton) will be attending Milligan along with Dorman.

Re: Beta Club Nationals

Brookwood could not field enough interest to go to the National Beta Convention. I'm not sure if Georgia will be represented by the 2nd place team (Parkview) or not. Haha, and I kind of wanted to see how my English test score would have stacked up to Nick from Dorman and others...oh well.

Re: Georgia 2008-2009

I think it's a bit too early to tag any favorites for the upcoming year. However, it is probably safe to assume that the usual handful of state powerhouses won't relinquish their status as likely contenders for the State title. Also, I believe that nearly all Georgia teams have a chance of being bet...

Re: Georgia 2007-2008

Wow, so our sophomores pulled it out. I can testify to their willingness to study and prepare for this tournament. They wanted it...like, a lot.

I wanted to come to see the rising varsity players for the 2008-2009 season, but I had other plans. Looks like next year will be interesting...

Re: Georgia 2007-2008

anyone else getting really excited about State? I think Georgia is unique in having 4 teams ranked in the top 25 with 1. Chattahoochee -16 2. Brookwood -22 3. Walton -23 4. Norcross -25 Just thought that was interesting. This is especially impressive after noting that these schools have played with...

The last quarterfinalist was indeed Brookwood, who defeated Danville and then proceeded to lose to Dorman A.

The Brookwood Invitational Scholar's Bowl is on November 17th and there is still PLENTY of room available for teams who are interested. Please spread the word.

Since the general consensus seems to be that reading actual source texts will be more beneficial than memorizing binary lists, what are the top 10 works of literature that you think a "lit specialist" should absolutely read for quizbowl?
