Re: Quiz Bowl's Systemic Failure At Expansion and Recruitment

I believe that this is a large untapped market and it would be a great opportunity to expand the circuit. It would also expose these schools to GOOD quiz bowl in the process. To my knowledge (and I very well could be wrong), I think Langston is the only HCASC school that has recently participated i...

Welcome. We have been waiting for years for UCO to put together a team. The closest team to you is Langston. They scrimmage Oklahoma State regularly. There are four (semi) active teams in Oklahoma that field teams every year: Langston, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Tulsa. There are a lot of differen...

Oh, hi there. This was fun. Thanks for posting and helping put this together, Caleb. Re: How to ensure new SCT teams become new circuit teams

Two unproven suggestions to those who wish to recruit HBCU's to their event: If you know no students on the team: 1. If the tournament in the fall, stress to the coach the importance of competition and the fact that they can show the "selection crew" at HCASC that they are participating in...

Re: How to ensure new SCT teams become new circuit teams

Look at this as a business investment- if we can attract even 20% of these new teams, the circuit will be larger and better off. I agree with this. I think another untapped market lies with the HBCUs. HCASC may be a notoriously bad format, but there are many schools that participate in it, and I th...

As our first ACF tournament, I thought the set was good. We had the unfortunate luck of getting a lot of mythology bonuses, but it was fun. I liked the various world leader questions and accessibility of most of the bonuses, as a team full of students with very little previous quiz bowl experience.
