Coaches get together and examine record, stregnth of schedule, PPG, etc to evaluate the best 32 teams in the state. Any coach whose team wishes to be considered must be present at the meeting. At the actual state tournament, the teams are grouped into 4 groups of 8: group 1: seeds 1,8,9,16,17,24,25...

Re: Suprises

My surprises in no particular order: * I thought the New Trier Sectional might have some closer matches. Don't be fooled by the scores. All the matches we were in could have gone either way. It was a tossup here or there. The matches were very close. It just hurt us a lot in the New Trier match tha...

Our (Fenwick) regional was stronger than we expected. Mostly because we overlooked our opponents a little bit, which bit us in the ass. York gave us a run for our money. They were winning by like 50 after 7 questions or so, but we got it together in the second half. Saturday ought to be fun. The que...

So...Mason Bowl state is this weekend. I'm unfamiliar with the format. I was wondering what the deal is going to be on Saturday. Is it a 'one and done' thing, or is there some type of consolation. Just by looking at the number of teams, 16, it seems like its going to be a basic 1 v 16, 2 v 15, 3 v 1...

It's a whole other state tournament for illinois. it's sponsored by the Masons (I don't know if they're free masons, or what). You get money for your school for placing well. I really don't know all that much, Jackson, but that's the extent of my knowledge.

Before I say anything in our defense... Results from WWS: 1) Fenwick 2) WWS 3) Wheaton North 4) St. Ignatius C) Lincoln Way East Now...Here's what happened...there was a math tossup asking to write an equation in standard form. I don't quite remember exactly what the answer was, but the answer given...

Yeah Jackson, I can't really say it any better. Even though the sectional is stacked, I'm looking forward to it. There's something about plating great teams that gets my blood pumping. Whoever wins this sectional should do well at state. Call the fenwick tournament a bloodbath? This should be just a...

Don't worry about that. Mr. Draski gave us a list of the teams that are coming on saturday. Auburn was definitely on there. I'll see you on Saturday.

As far as the Fenwick sectional goes, I only know the top 3 teams. Sorry I can't help you out any further.
1) Fenwick
2) St. Ignatius
3) OPRF

Any new information would be greatly appreciated.

I was wondering what happened in the final at the Homewood-Flossmoor tournament on Saturday. We had to leave right away to get home for a dance that night. I'm fairly certain that Wheaton North and Maine South played each other. I've been looking here and ihssbca.org for the results, but I haven't s...

I don't really see what's wrong with alternate introductions. Although it can get annoying at some points, it also relieves a little pressure before a match. I say, let the teams introduce themselves the way they want. If it bothers you or you find it Bush League, let your game do the talking. If a ...

And that's what typically separates good teams and bad teams -- a desire to learn information not presented in the standard school curriculum. Just a little add on here--besides reading the actual novels and plays, it is helpful to review some lists of famous works and their authors. Lots of PLEASE...

I noticed that the sectional assignments were posted last night, and i could have sworn that I saw St. Ignatius on there in the Chicago (Marist) sectional. It looks like the page was updated earlier today, so maybe they were taken off for some strange reason. In any event, I noticed that the section...

Sorry to break the ongoing conversation here, but I was looking at ihsa.org today and found the sectional and regional sites. These are incomplete, as denoted by the plethora of 'TBA' sites for the regionals. Here is the link to look at the regional and sectional sites up to today: http://www.ihsa.o...

I liked the fact that the questions at Kaneland had variety. It's nice to hear literature questions about autors you don't hear about all the time. Also, the super happy funtime bonuses were a nice touch. It adds a nice uniqueness to the tournament. Overall the questions were good. I can't think of ...

In response to NCRedhawks... Yes, you guys had your way with us (Fenwick) at the Kick Off tournament. I have to hand that to you. However... Our team was lacking our two best players (Danny and Brooks) for that tournament. We haven't been at full strength all year. I'm just posting to clear the air....

Before I say anything, I would like to introduce myself to the message board. I'm Mike, captain of the Fenwick scholastic bowl team. Hello World of Quizbowl! Now that THAT is out of the way... As a devoted Simpsons watcher (borderline obsessed), I found the Simpsons questions to be very refreshing o...
