Re: Cornell's Cayuga Championship (10/25/08) @ Ithaca, NY

Dolgeville has two teams coming-- regardless of the set used. Our Geek Wars is using 73A, so it's not a conflict with any of this year's sets.

Repeating Questions

I was recently moderating a tournament and a student asked me to repeat the question. I said no; was I right in doing so? What if a team had asked me to repeat a bonus-- is that allowable?

Geek Wars in Dolgeville was not NAQT affiliated, although my team would be interested in travelling for a New York NAQT Nationals, and I know a few teams would be interested from our tournament. How do we qualify? When will dates and locations be announced? Ahhh... a spring trip to NYC sounds lovely...

We just bought a SVBZ as an extra buzzer system. Thank goodness it's an extra that we didn't end up having to use at our tournament. We tried it out at a practice and 2-3 buzzers were lighting up at a time. After an email to the company, they did say that when it's hooked up correctly it doesn't do ...

I did a little research about our videoconferencing capabilities and found out that all another school would need is an IP address to call another school. We have a wonderful Tanburg (a huge TV with a webcam) that I could envision a long distance match... My team meets Wednesdays from 3-4 EST. Anyon...

The turnout of fourteen teams this year was encouraging. The final standings were: 1st: Kingston 2nd: Lowville 3rd: Lake George 4th: Cooperstown A Kingston and Lowville were impressive teams. Chinese Auction

We had no funding last year, so to raise $ for a registration fee to go to a tournament we threw together a Chinese auction. Each of my players had to donate something (movie tickets, old Playstation games, etc) and I went to a couple friendly businesses in town who donated some items. We sold ticke...

Yes, this last option sounds viable. Perhaps my students don't have the endurance... so many preliminary rounds is exhausting. My original plan wasn't a complete round robin, obviously... having some familiarity with the coming teams, I paired them with four other equally paired teams in the prelims...
