Re: The Definitive Greatest Minnesota High School Quiz Bowlers

How does this person know all of this stuff, namely the seemingly anecdotal information?

Finally, another Knowledge Bowl participant with some actual sense, but let's just remember, this is a Quizbowl forum (though I'm guessing you could actually discuss it here).

I thought that overall the set (methinks 69-A) was pretty okay, but certain subject areas were overrepresented, and there were a few too many clues that were not power worthy, even for A-series. I thought that this was one of the better A-series sets that I have seen, though that might not be saying...

The greatest thing about this thread is that we get to speculate all the way until October 27th. Yay MN QB. My god...this is the most truthful statement I have ever read on this forum as of late. Why does the QB season in Minnesota start so late? Anyway, I can only agree with Carsten wrote, but I a...

Why EP in the top 25 and not Wayzata or Minnetonka? Why Minnetonka with only two votes? Can EP be beaten by Wayzata or Minnetonka? Can EP be beaten by anyone? Was anyone left off the list that deserves at least a mention? I think/ am sure it is because we at EP have more exposure to the other teams...

I really enjoyed the MSM camp. Mr. Rountree and Mr. Huff did a really good job of teaching their subjects, and the questions provided by Chris Ray each night were, as previously pointed out, very good and in-depth. I only wish there had been fewer non-Western History questions, though this wasn't re...

Mitu, I very much agree with your assessment. I was surprised by Minnetonka's performance at nationals, but I am glad that they are returning next year to increase the amount of competition in the state. Wayzata will still be good. We at Eden Prairie hope to improve next year, but we don't know if t...

The tournament went really well, and the Deep Bench format was really creative and different. I also liked that the teams had to function as whole teams rather than independant parts.

Well, had any of the players from our A or B team been on his own team, he would have easily gotten 120 points per game. Another thing to consider is bonus conversion. Even when you were on St. Anthony's F team, the maximum points per bonus your team got was 13.33...on relatively easy questions. I'm...

I don't know if the whole "three people from St. Anthony placed in the top ten" spiel is such a good marker of a team's skill. A lot of players from a lot of schools could have easily placed in the top of their respective regions had they not been on a better team, so that statistic isn't ...

I'm actually really interested to see Wayzata at the Deep Bench tournament (WISDOM) because they have several high-scoring individuals, and they're B team is among the better teams in the state. It will definitely be an interesting match-up.

2006-2007

I also think that next year's Minnesota QB scene will be very interesting. We're very fortunate to have had only two people graduating this year...it's probably thew only reason we'll succeed. But anyway, I think St. Thomas will, as usual, have a very good team next year. I just haven't seen much of...
