Re: Please Keep Full Stats at Your Tournament
I don't know how useful it is to engage with the details here, since I don't think Eric and I disagree on what would be ideal, and I don't think the details are that important. Perhaps unwisely, I'm going to do so anyway. The TD doesn't want the names and performance details of children to be posted...

In this post, I speak from my perspective as the person who processes the vast majority of results sent to NAQT, and with other NAQT insider knowledge, but it's not a formal statement from NAQT. Theoretically, I would love to see the result Eric asks for (though not the means). I think it would be g...

On November 11th, three schools from Indiana played at the Holland Fall Invitational. This tournament was played with timed rounds and inexperienced readers, and based on talks with a coach, I'm going to assume that most games were around 15 tossups, which explains the tournament's low scoring. They had a flight to catch. Actually, if I recall correctly, both teams that should have played in the third-place game had a flight to catch and thus would have forfeited, but TJ told me first, so they got stuck with the loss. The 2018 HSNCT was the first year using the "sessions" scheme ...

I agree that this is weird. It's definitely technically possible to fix this, but I'm not sure it's a good idea. If we changed things so that only tournaments that used powers were considered in the power percentage calculation, then the table would be internally inconsistent. For example, when play...

It appears to me that part-by-part bonus data is entirely separate from actual scoring data, and the two are not error-checked against each other. For example, in this scoresheet , round 4 cycle 12, no bonus parts are listed as being converted but the team supposedly earned 20 on the bonus. That is,...

Please don't use Neg5. (At least not for NAQT tournaments, but really in general.) For the record, NAQT has a feature (I think new since your tournament) by which hosts can limit their tournament to schools from the same state. Whether to use it is, of course, up to the host. (So far there aren't more flexible options like "schools from within a 100-mile radius" or "...

At least when stats are entered as a game summary (similar to SQBS) rather than cycle-by-cycle, Neg5 fails to validate many aspects, making it easy to produce stats that are obviously impossible and, therefore, not useful (and not acceptable to NAQT). Does the scoresheet entry mode do a better job?
