Re: How much "world" should there be in art?

I think another challenge with music outside of Western tradition is that, for many traditions, there's isn't the same depth of recordings available, like western classical music, or the same depth of famous, easy to find albums like jazz music. Of course, there's some exceptions to this, with famo...

Bummed that I didn't realize this existed. I don't know how much interest there is, but I'd play if you guys ran it again. Stephen, we are actually planning to run this again for people who didn't play the first time. Stay tuned for an announcement of a future mirror. I'd like to second the interes...

Re: Wolverine Bowl NAQT IS-195

I want to thank Crivitz High School for running such a fun tournament. Everyone was extremely nice and professional throughout, and it's obvious how hard each and every person worked to make it a success.

3 Prince, "When Doves Cry" vs. 5 Talking Heads, "Once in a Lifetime" Some songs that might've made it: " Let's Dance " by David Bowie Either " Flashdance... What a Feeling " or " Maniac " from Flashdance " Parents Just Don't Understand " by...

1 Michael Jackson, "Billie Jean" vs. 5 Talking Heads, "Once in a Lifetime" 5 Tracy Chapman, "Fast Car" vs. 3 Prince, "When Doves Cry" It's a shame that the two best songs in the semifinal had to go against each other. "Billie Jean" vs. "Once in...

Re: Discussion Regarding Specific PAveMEnt Questions

I enjoyed this, though I personally did rather poorly (through no fault of the set, which was great; my lackluster performance was entirely due to my own bad performance). I do have a little feedback on a few questions, which I will mark with [PO], as does my partner Amanda Li (who doesn't have a fo...

Re: INTRODUCING THE AMERICAN QUIZBOWL LEAGUE

It is not the "nation's number one name in online quizbowl tournaments" - searching it on Google yields the NAQT page and the design consultant who created the AQBL website's logo. Stop making these claims. I feel like going after advertising bluster isn't particularly relevant or importa...

Re: On the Abundance of High School Sets During the Pandemic [And Its Problems]

I would suggest that not everyone needs to be involved in writing a full set. If people have the writing bug, they can write a vanity packet and read it on Discord a couple of times. As it stands right now, the market is completely saturated with sets. Many of these sets will be mediocre. Most of th...

Re: NY/NJ/CT/PA/DE Discussion '20-21

I'd like to advocate for Hunter B next year. Although B team composition will depend heavily on who's coming to a given tournament, I think they'll be a strong presence at most tournaments, and have the potential to claim some serious scalps. I won't be counting B team results with Andrew on them, b...

Re: NY/NJ/CT/PA/DE Discussion '19-20

Although only two teams from the region went, and there are no official stats yet, I think that Hunter and Millburn's EFT stats are an interesting point of discussion. Hunter: 50/80/32, 18.74ppb* Millburn: 33/97/10, 18.3ppb* *These may be slightly off Both teams finished 5-2 in prelims and 2-2 in pl...
