Sorry for being a page behind, but Congratulations to Fremd. Even though I bet many students felt it was a bit odd, I respect Fremd for welcoming their team home with an all school pep rally. Respect for any activity is key to fostering its importance. May more schools follow their example. (althoug...

Especially at tournaments, make a list of any type of problem that proved difficult. Learn that.
Didn't play in grade school, so I don't really know.

Probably already been posted by one of my other teammates, so apologies for a repeat, (I'm too lazy to check) but reminded today of one of my teammate's blunders:

this fourteen letter word, etc etc etc

The rivalry, Nick, is one of closeness. Akin to the manner in which our LA and NT are so close together as to see familiar faces at, oh, almost everywhere we go. Besides, our honorable coaches are pals; only fitting they hold a type of joust for pride's sake. May the Bloodstone Cup never be dusty.

Not that it's a grand pie or anything, but as of it did get some attention awhile back on the boards and no one else has mentioned it: Loyola did win the Bloodstone Brawl (which oddly took place Feb28) vs. Maine South. As M.Laird has so noted, the new Bloodstone cup will begin its passing (or hopefu...

Although I enjoy NAQT, it is so terribly easy to let a match get away from you. Three questions or just 2 powers, and a team is bound to get at least an average of one part per bonus --- with no bouncebacks, the point gap can increase really quickly based on the luck of the draw of the questions. al...

Nick, you're fine on this one. Sante Fe is the capital.
Nice tournament, with good questions but that and some other errors, such as No.36=Xe. I don't think so.

Someone else will have a more complete list but, From Fremd Varsity 1. Wheaton North A 2. Fremd A 3. Loyola 4. St. Ignatius Although not a slight to anyone, the Current events questions proved to be the hardest questions in my observation/experience as of last year's questions (snowed out tournament...

I swear, our sub-sectional alone might be tougher than any other whole sectional. I wasn't sure I agreed with this until I checked again....I think you're right. BTW...Maine East was not only officially added, but will be one of the Regional sites. Browsing the list on the bus, this is most definit...

Actually, I don't think there's a problem with having more guys than girls in quiz bowl. It doesn't bother me; most of the time I don't even notice it. If there are girls on your team who are fantastic, that's great, just don't go out of your way to recruit girls who might not be any good. I absolu...

Being one of few IL female varsity players/starters AND one of few girls in Science Olympiad AND WYSE AND adventure gamers etc, as far as scholastic bowl goes - at least in IL- girls who stick with it are normally casual/not particularly special and are just finishing, or they're a great dominant fo...

Mr. Tedrick from around the Sterling area, I believe, has always been a favorite with me, although I do support trevkeeper and Mr. Egan in their others mentioned above such as Mr. Egan, the UIUC guys, and so forth. And I'm not sucking up but: Mr. Laird has a rather good style himself.

Congratulations to Carlo and Nick for a tournament with interesting questions, pulled off in a timely manner, and (seemingly) enjoyed by many. Scheduling can't really be helped; so it goes sometimes.
