I second Ameya's confusion; does this mean that the American, European, and World history subcategories will not include any military content? Also, is there a rationale behind the very small philosophy/social science distribution?

Re: Doing well
At the middle school level, you can get considerably good by taking note of every question you hear (even the ones you get) and looking them up afterwards. As for negging habits, try to change your mindset so that you only buzz when you're at least 80% sure of the answer; most "shot in the dark...

Re: Getting "Real" Literature Knowledge
You can't expect to have "Real" knowledge of the entire literature canon, but remember that literature doesn't just consist of long fiction; you can get a lot of good literature knowledge by reading a lot of short stories and poems you come across while reading packets.

Here are my picks for finals: Govind Prabhakar Arjun Nageswaran Ben Fry Matthew Lee Jonathan Lau Dylan Bowman Sophie Netzel Abe Holtermann Tejas Vadali with Dylan winning it all, and Govind at a close second. Illinois has definitely lost its signature generalists after the exodus of Ethan Strombeck,...

Ameya tries to produce a set 2: This Time It’s Functional! I’d suggest that you stop wasting your time by trying to create an unavoidably awful set that will neither get mirrored nor have any semblance of quality whatsoever, since no matter how much you cry wolf about how you “learned from your mist...

Re: 2019-2020 Illinois Discussion
Are there any Illinois freshmen to look out for this year? The only ones I know a bit about are Michael Karpov from Barrington, Jared Dong from Springfield, and Rishabh and Aadit from Stevenson.

Seeing as BUTTERSCOT is just condensed Scottie questions with most of the answerlines kept, no.TheAngryBavarian wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 11:16 am Would teams be able to do both BUTTERSCOT and Scottie or is there too much correlation between the two sets? Thanks in advance.

Digital flashcard softwares like Anki, Mnemosyne, or Quizlet can be helpful. Also, it’s difficult to remember clues you merely hear in a question; I’ve found that reading deeper into the clues in a question (reading a wikipedia article about the clue, reading a plot summary of a novel that was clued...

I am aware and agree that plagiarism is bad and that I had committed it by not properly citing the sources to the question I wrote in Packet 1. Have you considered that you committed plagiarism not only by failing to cite your sources, but by blatantly ripping off previous questions and attempting ...

Ameya, I find it extremely difficult to understand your stubbornness. Everyone here is giving you very sound advice, yet you choose to ignore each and every one of them. It’s impossible that you do not realize why your behavior is bad, since many people have EXPLICITLY told you the reasons. As we st...

Could we get justifications for these rankings? I find myself disagreeing with many of these and I would like to hear your reasoning.
