Re: NY/NJ/CT/PA/DE Discussion '20-21
With LONE STAR, the first tournament of the region, imminent, I thought that I would join my teammate Jacob with a post about the teams that I believe to be in the top 20 in Downstate NY, NJ, CT, and Eastern PA (not counting teams from the central part of the state, like State College). The top 10 t...

Re: Tri-State Area Date Claims 2020-2021
Hunter will be hosting a league-style tournament using the house-written Prison Bowl XIII set to be held on Zoom. The number of weeks will depend on the number of registered teams, but it will begin at the end of the week of October, 11th. Teams will be playing 1-2 games per week on any day from Thu...

Re: Prison Bowl XIII: HS Regs+, Available for 2020-21 Season
We are happy to announce that, since all mirrors at the end of last year were cancelled due to the pandemic, Prison Bowl XIII will be available to use for mirrors throughout the entirety of the 2020-21 season. Hosts are welcome to use the set for traditional full-day tournaments or league-style even...

Re: QBWiki Addition Suggestions
As someone who enjoys reading about Quiz Bowl, I find the existence of this project very heartening. One thing that I don't see discussed anywhere is comprehensive notability guidelines (something along the lines of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability). There is a small enough number ...

Re: Columbia Spring Tournament (3/7/2020)- STASH
Perhaps CALISTO could be used for the Standard division? Acton-Boxborough will have played it out of the Nationals teams, but I don't believe any of the Standard division teams will have.

Re: Columbia Spring Tournament (3/7/2020)- STASH
Is there a reason that this tournament is using a nationals-level set for both divisions, including a division specifically intended for teams that are likely not nationals-caliber?

Re: NYC Middle School Quiz Bowl Championship (1/4/2020)
14 teams from 6 schools, 5 of whom were new to pyramidal Quiz Bowl, came to Hunter yesterday for New York City's first middle school Quiz Bowl tournament. Foxcroft from Livingston, New Jersey, went undefeated to win the tournament, beating Ben Franklin A 285-150 in the de facto final game. Anderson ...

Hunter A still has a round with 33.33 P/BB, and Beavercreek and Solon both have rounds with 60 P/BB.

Could I see the conversion stats for the Bulwer-Lytton question (Rd. 10)?
I, too, am curious about most and least converted tossups (I'd guess Bulwer-Lytton would be somewhere near the least-converted end of the spectrum).

Re: 2019 PACE NSC: Congratulations Thomas Jefferson A!
All the stat errors I'm aware of are fixed in the most recent update to the stats database; if you see something else let me know. (Some missing bonuses have been corrected in the prelims report.) It seems that those missing bonuses are still missing (in the Lilongwe, Dhaka, and Jakarta brackets). ...

Could you post the tossups on Gulliver's Travels (Rd. 13), up-arrows (Rd. 20), and Isle of Dogs (Rd. 26), as well as the bonus on Studio Ghibli (Rd. 24)? Thanks! I also have a general category-wide observation. The lit in this set seemed, on average, very hard to power. I'm not a great lit player by...

Re: NY/NJ/CT/PA/DE Discussion '18-19
I made the mistake of deciding to give a writeup to every NY/NJ team going to HSNCT. This took a while, hence me posting this very late. But hey, it's fun to get carried away. "Championship Calibre" denotes teams that have a decent shot at winning it all and will probably make the top 10. ...

Re: MSNCT predictions
I'm glad so many people have responded with their thoughts and predictions! I definitely think that this MSNCT could go in a huge number of ways. I'd say my personal top 4 would be Challenger-Almaden, Churchill, Hunter, and Longfellow. (Since "Super Six" now seems to be a thing (though the...

MSNCT predictions
There's a lot of meta-analysis of High School teams -- in fact, one might argue that there's too much -- but I've noticed that there's not much analysis of Middle School teams, at least not here on the forums. So, I was wondering if people had any thoughts/predictions for Middle School Nationals.

I can confirm that Hunter is s...

Recordings of matched are available here: http://doc-ent.com/qbc/NSC18/ Note that both Brittany and I were sick during the tournament so our voice quality isn't that great. It's not that important, and possibly not fixable, but "High Tech B vs. Hunter C" should be High Tech C vs Hunter B .

Re: AMSA Middle School Invitational, March 10, Marlborough,
I understand your frustration, but calm down, Karsten. I mean, you can still do analysis from the data they have. Just divide by 15, 10, or -5 respectively. For the first five games, that would mean you have a statline of 43/34/11 (186 ppg), with 25.32 ppb. That's a total of 193 ppg and 24.77 ppb fo...
