Re: We Need to Make Up Our Minds About Trash

I've had a lot of thoughts on popular culture in quizbowl in the past that perhaps many people here are already aware of, so I'm not going to say too much right now. Like some others in this thread, I believe that what is more important to consider is not *what* is asked about, but *how* it is asked...

Re: Can we cool it a bit with the "note-spelling"?

I would probably tend to agree with the anti-score clue arguments, which is ironic considering I've written and edited a lot of music questions over many years, and most of those questions probably contain at least one score clue. As someone with perfect pitch as well as sight-reading and sight-sing...

Re: 2022 WORKSHOP: Thanks and General Discussion

I don't think you need to appeal to a Bloomean notion of the "Western Canon" to object to the way Other Arts was done in this set. Looking over the packets, a third or more of the Other Arts tossups were written on topics we'd usually consider popular culture. The clues, rather than empha...

This set was largely solid , but seems to follow a trend of "weird" regular(ish) difficulty sets (along with, to varying extents, this year's Regionals, ARCADIA, HARI, and Winter; but this "weirdness"--which I feel is invariably the bad kind of "weird"--probably prompt...

Didn't really think too hard about ordering. One album per artist, otherwise the first tier would've entirely been overrun by Ariana Grande, Travis Scott, and Playboi Carti.
