Re: WORKSHOP 2020 @ MSU

Ohio State won this tournament by clearing the field, and Chicago B, as runners-up, was the highest-placed undergraduate team. Thanks to all teams for coming to East Lansing this weekend! Neg5 stats are available here, and I will upload SQBS stats sometime this week.

Re: The Warrior Classic (NAQT) 11/23 @ Wayne State

Hi Josh, While we love to see new tournament hosts in Michigan, it is generally good etiquette to make sure your tournament does not clash with any others in the region (so fields won’t be split). MSU has already announced at tournament (our mirror of Harvard Fall Tournament, linked below) for this ...

I'm willing to play as long as it projects to be done before midnight in Dublin (it should if it is only 7 packets). To be honest, I'm relatively rusty but also have been writing hard art stuff and like Will-brand film so I'll probably get a few good buzzes.

Re: Quizbowl, College Admissions, and Choices

I was accepted into my dream school, turned it down because the financial aid wasn't good enough, and I couldn't be happier that I did. Make the best of your situation, and keep in mind that you'll end up in the right place. Agreed. There was no way I could justify paying over 40,000 dollars a year...

Re: Movies of the year!

I forgot about I Am Not Your Negro! I really loved that film, and I love raoul peck. What turned you off? It’s been about ten months since I’ve seen IANYN, but I remember thinking it was incredibly unfocused, possibly due to the scope of the subject vs. its 93 minute runtime. I did appreciate the a...

Here’s my top 10, although it’s missing quite a few that I haven’t yet seen: Lady Bird Good Time Raw Get Out Three Billboards A Ghost Story Blade Runner 2049 Dunkirk The Meyerowitz Stories Mother! The most disappointing were I Am Not Your Negro and Okja. I had huge expectations for those and they tu...

Re: I'm bored so let's suggest music

I'm suggesting, in honor of a good quiz bowl player who has chosen to end her quiz bowl career for the time being, a band called Streetlight Manifesto. It's ska-punk and it's super great to head bash to. Singing along is easy too because the lead singer's voice is kinda raspy so it'll drown out any...
