Re: NAQT Indiana State Qualifier at IU (3/6/10) - CANCELLED
Unfortunately, it looks like I'm going to have to cancel the NAQT State Qualifier planned for March 6, 2010. This is largely because I'm not confident IU can adequately staff the tournament. Our team has kind of gone on hiatus, due to everyone being too busy. I don't want to hold a poorly- and under...

Can someone send me a Word/RTF/text version of the packets, so I can put them up on acfdb? The PDF versions are not converting to text nicely at all, i.e., all the line breaks are missing, and the numbers are not next to the correct tossups. Shoot me an email at [email protected]. Thanks!

NAQT Indiana Qualifier at St. Joe's-South Bend (4/17/10)
This tournament will be held at Indiana University Bloomington on March 6, 2010. It is open to all high schools in Indiana. We will use NAQT's IS-94 set; the top team is guaranteed a bid to NAQT's High School National Championship Tournament. Note that the "State Qualifier" set is IS-95. B...

The listed information on naqt.com is correct: it's a combined bid from the ACUI schools of Region 9. The contact is from Ball State, but the SCT will be held at Indiana. Carlo, is there a reason for your concern beyond "we didn't know ACUI people were reserving rooms on our campus"? Well...

I anticipate this will be an extremely high-quality (and difficult) high school tournament, and I hope you get a number of mirrors. Given the amount of effort going into the set, it really deserves mirroring, at any rate.

What are you even thinking of discussing? They have a business model and it works; why would they want to completely break with tradition in order to please a few people? I'm not being critical; this is an honest question.

Re: Aegis Questions no more
Just because kids don't get a question on a basic subject doesn't necessarily reflect poorly on the question writer. This can realistically happen because kids are either not paying attention, poorly prepared or just too intimidated (and this happens; I've seen it a lot in WV tournaments). Fred, I ...

As some of you may have already heard, Aegis will not be continuing operations as of the end of the 2008-09 season. Though hey, question database people, you might want to check this out. Especially for the acfdb, because the alert-based JavaScript answer hiding is kind of silly. The final is effectively Panasonic format. Negs worth the value of the question, no rebounds, way too much time after the question's finished til the tossup's dead.
