Re: ACF Fall 2019 Specific Question Discussion and Errata

Hey Drew and Chandler, just as an example of this from this year's packet, we had 3-4 different submissions from different teams all on Fire Emblem, which was synthesized into one question. Similarly, there were like 3-4 submissions all about Frankenstein, which turned into just one final question....

Re: ACF Fall 2019 Specific Question Discussion and Errata

I played on a team who submitted a packet that wasn't used (Purdue B), and heard some of my clues used nearly word-for-word in other packets, often very early in tossups I would not normally be able to get since they'd normally be well outside my categories. This strikes me as something that should...

Re: ACF Fall 2019 Specific Question Discussion and Errata

Cabrini Green is not in Bronzeville. Probably I'd say it's on the Near North Side; the Latin School of Chicago coach said it was in Old Town. The bonus clue that mentioned the connection between the words "Adonis" and "Adonai" was super cool! That was a mistake on my part for not indicating that th...

Re: ACF Fall 2019 Specific Question Discussion and Errata

I thought this set was very good, though I noticed two errata that I don't think have been mentioned yet: FWIW, the respondent in the room where I read this bonus part was able to articulate a description that I thought was good enough, as he communicated it had to do with the feet all being off th...

Forgive me if I am treading ground already covered in this discussion, but one thing I'd like to speak about from experience of being on a new team in the Upper Midwest circuit is that of transportation. How do you put Quiz Bowl on a resume?

Hey all! I know for all us, quiz bowl has made up a significant time commitment - be it in the form of writing, editing, studying, organizing, directing, etc. I was curious for my resume, what aspects I should highlight about quiz bowl to make sure it comes across as a vital activity and part of my ...

Re: Public Trivia Nights into Quizbowl Play

What sentence length and distribution are you all looking at? I'd say for trivia nights, definitely one clue/sentence. We play with about 20 tables of roughly 8 people, so for our format, one clue works since there isn't enough time to stretch out every question. Distribution I wouldn't go crazy wi...

This is a really good idea! And probably more practical in a college setting than posting a flyer or going from classroom to classroom. I'd be very interested in doing this at VMI. Hi Jonathan, I 100% support with Matt's post above. I think its important to create a good base from which newer players can enter a game rather than throwing them into the mix or forcing other players to slow down. With that being said, I highly recommend attending tournaments as much as possible. ...

The TU on harmonica was also somewhat questionable, and I am not sure if any music player could have converted it before the clues on glass harmonica.
For what its worth, Olivia Kiser from UChicago first lined this question.
